Richard, there is a biographical sketch of Ernest Eugene Day and his family on page 599, in the Eastland County History Book, Gateway to the West. He was born in Pirtle, Rusk County, Texas, Dec. 31, 1871. His father was James Edwin Wood, his mother Catherine Patience Berger. He came to Eastland in 1890. Is the book you refer to - Eastland County History Book, Gateway to the West - available for purchase? Gene Day was supposed to be some relation of mine but I don't know what the connection really was. My dad was John H. Bransford (born in Mangum - died near Cisco) and my grandparents (Jim and Betty Bransford) were long time farmers and ranchers near Mangum. If the book is available, I'd like to buy a copy. Accessing it through a library would be a bit difficult since I am located in California! Thanks for your help!
