Apologies to all. I am doing this for my 83 year old mother .This is my FINAL attempt for looking for Robert aka Tom ADKINS/ATKINS for her. After this, I am going to quit. I am too old for this. Therefore, in my last ditch effort, I am going to post this in the TX counties where he could have been in TX. If you receive this on other boards in TX that you belong to, please delete it. I know it can be a burden. This man did not exist but I have a hard time explaining that to mother. Conflicts in our knowledge of Robert aka Tom ADKINS: 1] He was a millwright and he was always named Tom and he got his arm cut off in a saw and got blood poisining and died. He supposedly died before 1890 in TX. 2] All the other ancestors say he and his wife both died in the cholera epidemic of 188? whenever it was in TX and that they are burried in an unmarked grave. 3] Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" ADKINS (Robert aka Tom's daughter) claimed to be a first cousin to former Speaker of the House of Representatives during the Eisenhour Administration, Samuel "Sam" TALIAFERRO RAYBURN b January 6, 1882 Roane County, Tennessee. Sam lived most of his life in Bonham, Fannin County, Texas. Mollie's death certificate lists her father as Tom ADKINS and so do the Funeral Home Records. 4] Robert's grandaughter who died last year gave me an old newspaper article on Samuel "Sam" James ERVIN/ERWIN Jr a former Representative from North Carolina born in Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina September 27, 1896. He was elected to the Seventy-ninth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of his brother, Joseph Wilson ERVIN/ERWIN and served from January 22, 1946 to January 3, 1947. She says we are also related to him. I can NOT find either of these connections yet. Thinking it might be with a WALLER though. 5] All the information on Robert aka Tom ADKINS says his parents were both from LA. All the census information on his children (ALL of them) says Robert Adkins was born in TX. 6] Robert aka Tom ADKINS had one of his sons, James Samuel spell his name ATKINS in Clay Co, TX Court Documents.
