Hello, I am new to this list. I am trying to find the final resting place of my great grandfather, William Alexander (Alex) White. He left MS for Gorman, TX in 1907, along with some of his children and grandchildren. They were: James Wesley White Henry and Ellen (White) Henley and their children Annie (White) Hutcherson and her two children Another of his daughters had already moved to Gorman with her husband about 1903. Their names were John P. and Mary (White) Carter. They are buried in the Gorman Cemetery. I would like very much to correspond with their descendents. The Henleys lived in Gorman for a year or so before settling in Kokomo, north of Gorman. One of their sons (my second cousin?) Julius Henley, wrote a book about his life, including much about his life in Kokomo. There is a lot of information about the families and the area at the time. I have a copy of the book, called "A Boy from Kokomo". There are some missing pages. As soon as I can get them from another cousin, I plan on scanning the book into electronic form and will reprint it so the library at Gorman can have a copy. Annie Hutcherson eventually remarried an A.Y Blanton and they lived in Blanket, TX. She died in the 1950's. They are buried in the Blanket Cemetery along with her daughter Wilma who died young. James married Eula Henley, Henry's daughter from a previous marriage. They are on the 1910 census as living in Eastland. They eventually settled in Ft. Worth. Here's my problem: in the book written by my cousin, it states that Alex is buried in the Gorman Cemetery, as well as two of the Henley's children and one of James' children. I didn't find any of them at the Gorman Cemetery. I made another trip to Gorman last Wednesday and talked to the great little lady at the library. She had a list of the people buried in the Gorman Cemetery, but none of these names are there. She sent me to the funeral home where I saw a map with lots of little cemeteries in the area. I went to as many as I could find but still could not find Alex. There is also no death certificate for him at the Eastland courthouse. There is a chance that he died in Comanche County, since Gorman is right on the line. I haven't heard back from Comanche County yet. Does anyone know the whereabout of the following people's graves? William Alexander White 1831-1907 Lutie May Henley 1893-1907 Charles Leroy Henley 1907-1909 Lonnie Delmore White 1909-1909 Does anyone know if John and Mary Carter's descendents still live in the Gorman area? I would really like to find them. Thanks, Terry
