Yes I have Bev...thanks though. Doesn't appear Eastland County has census records on line either. The list must really be slow...I've only belonged for a couple of weeks and haven't seen more than 5 post....2 of which have been mine! heheh Maybe we'll spark some activity here :) Thanks again, Pam Tillman-Goff
Pam, The list has been really slow lately. Have you tried done a rootsweb search? Hi: Sorry, can not help with CLOUD's, but wanted to wish you a happy hunting day. This will at least be one reply. s
I sent a post to this list last week and I didn't get one reply. I'm hoping that someone may own or have access to the 1910 Eastland, TX census. I'm looking for the William T. Cloud family and specifically who was in their household in 1910. Lydia (Elizabeth) Cloud (Bill Cloud's wife) died in 1832 in Eastland, TX. She was born in 1851 in Missouri. Her maiden name was Tillman. She is my gr,gr,great Aunt. I'm hoping to find my grandmother in their family in 1910. Thank you in advance to anyone who wouldn't mind looking this up for me. I'd really appreciate it. Pam Tillman-Goff
Dear List Members: I just want to take a moment to remind you that you should never give information on living persons in your messages without their permission or the permission of their parents if they are children. The most important reason for this is the right to privacy. You also need to remember that anything you post goes into the archives of that list and stays there. It cannot be removed but it can be copied and added to any ones site out there in the world of the internet. This may not seem real important, but I promise it will become so when you are surfing the web one day and come across a site with your children's names, grandchildren's names, where they live and how old they are. I continue to thank you for your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members, here it is, time for the First Quarterly Report for 2001. Can you believe how fast the time has passed? Please take note of my new e-mail address, kathleenburnett@earthlink.net and change your address books, the old efortress.com account will be closed by the end of the month. The TXEASTLA Mailing List has 60 members, 49 on the Regular list and there are 11 members on the Digest List. If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/. Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Just a reminder so this list is better for each of us the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at kathleenburnett@earthlink.net There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as the first message from a members says Says "Happy Birthday John" and then John says "Thank you" and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday John". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. kathleenburnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and yourwillingness to help make this list the success it is. Hi, Sorry for any duplicate posts, but I have a missing family in (probably) both Erath and Eastland Counties. Here's my story: I have a lady, Angia Novella Reeves who was b. January 06, 1884, Kline, Travis Co., TX (d/o Charles Armstrong Reeves & Alcie Annie Ivey). Angia ("NOV" as she was called) married 3 times. Her 1st marriage was to Willie J. Stewart (b. October 1875 somewhere in TX). They married January 09, 1899 and had 2 sons: Oscar J. Stewart (January 07, 1901) and Gano Joseph Stewart (August 24, 1903). I don't know what happened to W. J. Stewart, but I suspect he probably died. Her 2nd marriage was to William Seborn Covey (b. May 1883 somewhere in TX). They married September 14, 1905 and had 1 (known) son: Jesse Jason Covey (September 20, 1906). I don't know what happened to W. S. Covey, but I suspect he probably died, too. Her 3rd marriage was to W. D. Witcher (no dates but he was from TX). They married before Jan. 1922. They had 1 (known) son: Edward Dee Witcher (January 2, 1922), born in Ranger, Eastland Co., TX. I don't know what happened to W. D. Witcher, but I suspect he probably died, too. Angia Novella Reeves Stewart Covey Witcher died in Tarrant Co., TX August 03, 1975. I think she outlived all but one of her sons from her 1st marriage and her youngest son, E. D. Witcher. Here's my pitch: This is the birth-family of my daughter's birth-father (who is not offering any information to assist in the research of my daughter's lineage) and I'm having a good deal of difficulty getting a grip on this family line. My daughter is really wanting to know about her TX roots and I'm appealing to you good folks for assistance. Consider this a Mission of Mercy! If anyone can help point me to the right information/documents/website/ANYTHING!, please contact me at my email address. Thanks to all in advance. Be well & God bless, Kate Beaugrand Cook Minnesota kbcook@cfaith.com or k.b.cook@worldnet.att.net

Dear List Members, Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with increased performance and reliability for future growth. The down time will be about 24 hours. If you do not receive any postings during this time do not worry, all will be back up and running soon. Your List Mom is going to take a 24 hours nap. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

There has been a major problem with certain lists on Rootsweb since last Friday. I am not sure how this list is going to be effected by the crashed server at Rootsweb, you were not one directly effected. The server is up and running again and I have a favor to ask each of you. If you begin receiving a large amount of messages that have backed up in the system since last Friday. Please be understanding, USE YOUR DELETE KEY, yelling and screaming will not stop it. I am holding on for dear life. I will have messages coming to me from 171 mailing lists hitting me all at once along with bouncing messages and messages from those of you asking for help. Together we will get through this and look back on this day as the "Day of the Rootsweb Flood", and laugh. If you have asked to be unsubscribed, that request was most likely never received. Please understand that even if I unsubscribe you now, I cannot stop what you are going to receive. If the lists do not look the same, meaning the headers are gone. I will bo back and take care of that when this flood is over. Good luck and I look forward to getting back to normal when the sun is again shinning. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Hill, in the book History of Eastland County by Mrs. George Langston, 1904, I only have parts of a few pages, there is listed: "School District No 38 - Britton, Annie Brooks, Mamie Brooks, Trustees: A C Brown, H B Bue, R L Rowe, F M Stone".. I have no date to that entry. As for Carbon: book says... 1881 first lot in Carbon was sold to N S Haynes who put up a small business house. An attempt to move the town three miles east having failed, J F White established a lumber yard, Mr. Fowler and son put up a cotton gin, and Mr Train taught school. ....number of business houses in this little town, shops, hotels, and gins, a good weekly newspaper, with a hustling editor. its bank soon to open in its own brick building. its Baptist and Methodist churches, Masonic hall and neat two story school building, .... ...among the enterprising business people of Carbon are Finley Bros, dry goods. T J Morris, general merchandise. Puett and Son dry goods. W A Seastrunk, hotel, and many others... there are nearly 600 inhabitants. The Herald, published by W T Curtis, editor and proprietor, pleases its readers and pays its advertisers, and is strictly a local and county newspaper. ..... only clean advertising from clean people is inserted. Bank of Carbon W H Eddleman president, W A Waldrop vice president J E Spencer cashier. Findley Brothers.... W P Finley...member of this firm were born in TN and emigrated to TX with their parents and other brothers in 1867. ... general merchandis business est. in 1895... A C Poe MD born in Magnolia Ark came to Carbon in 1896..... with brother C B Poe as a partner, the doctor in interested in a lumber and various business interests maintains an extensive practice. As an evidence of the prosperity of the people of this section, and of their integrity as well, they pay anaverage 95 % of their physician's accounts. T J Morris, Merchant....1893 Morris began business in Carbon..handles everything in a general merchandise line....besides dry goods and groceries, hardware and every conceivable kind of farming implement, he handles furniture and undertaker's goods. Not much but hopefully something new for you..... and bless Mrs. George Langston for giving us a glimpse of Eastland County history...
