The Santa Claus Bank Robbery is one of our family's favorite stories. My Dad, who is 91 years old, was in town during the Santa Claus Bank Robbery -- as a matter of fact, he was heading for the bank and decided to stop at the drug store and have a soda first. Upon hearing the news from a passerby, he ran to the see what was going on. When he did see, he -- in his words -- "got out of there fast." For those interested, the Cisco Police Department's Website discusses the robbery. You can read that at http://216.88.101.254/ciscopd/santaclaus.html. There's a book entitled "The Santa Claus Bank Robbery," by A.C. Greene, published by the University of North Texas Press. I have a copy of a pamphlet that was printed by the First National Bank years ago. I don't know if they still distribute this publication. I don't want to take a chance on violating any copyrights, but if anyone is interested, you might want to contact the bank to see if it is still available: First National Bank P.O. In my data base I have a John LASH married to Bettye. She was my great aunt. I found a marriage record in Hill Co., TX for John Lash and Bettye B MCKINNEY. I found a John F Lash and wife Bettye on the 1880 Wise Co. TX census. Someone told me they found a John Lash and family on an Eastland Co., census for 1900 or 1910. Does anyone have those census records? Also think on the 1900 Eastland CO census there was an Elizabeth McKinney listed as head of the house. It could be Betty's mother. Will appreciate any help. Orville L. Pollard was born in I.T. in 1894. Was living in Tarrant Co. in 1920 and in Eastland in 1930 and thereafter. Wife was Viola. We think Orville was supposedly Orville L. Branham at birth. His mother left the father when he was about two years old and evidently gave him the name of Pollard later. She supposedly left with a traveling salesman one day and took the baby with her. Probable father was Robert J. Branham of Indian Territory and Oklahoma. Thanks so much
