Per 1880 & 1900 US Census Martha "Mattie" was born in Tennessee abt 1844, parents TN per information provided by her. Martha and James married appx 1866/1867. Most of the 1890 US census burned in 1921. Texas began recording deaths in 1903 and not enforced for a number of years and if a death certificat was filed it most likely did not have her parents names on it. Ella M Turpen age 21 born 1/1879 single Wm J Turpen born 8/1882 Amanda Turpen born 6/1885 I did not find the Turpin's in 1870 census nor any of the McFarlan's who were in Washington Co TX in 1860. This record only names head of household. William McFarland age 20 to 30; only male in household. 2 females under age of 5; 1 female 20/30. It would help to find the Turpin's and McFarland's in 1870 and their marriage record.
