Joan: just a hint, death certificates might give a clue as to a family member as the personal information part is quite often filled in by a family member, and relationship should be indicated. I found the married name of a daughter in this fashion. Also gives the funeral home to which the deceased is released to, at what address the deceased was living at time of death, etc., so city directories could be searched, and funeral home contacted as they keep good records, and might still be in operation so you could contact them directly by mail.
