The story was told to us by my gr-grandmother Bertha Alma Long (b Hill County 1894). She said her grandfather had killed a man & fled the county. Her mother's dad is the man in question. We do not know his name. Her mother's name was Lena Macie Bowen (b +/- 1872). Lena's sister was Leora Bowen (b 1878/1879). Lena & Lee Ora were orphaned as a result of the "incident". Leora was raised by a family named TIPPS. Lena was raised by a family named INGRAM. Both were raised in Hill County. However, they could have come from an orphanage, so the incident could've taken place anywhere. Neither Lena or Leora ever knew who their parents were. Lena's death cert shows the following: FATHERS NAME BOYD FATHERS PLACE OF BIRTH UNK MOTHERS NAME UNK MOTHERS PLACE OF BIRTH UNK Let me print-out your message & look closely at time frames, dates, names & associations.
