I also have a possible murder mystery concerning my GG Grandparents. My great grandmother and her brother were found nearly starved to death down on the Trinity River bottoms at some time between 1875 and 1880, I am guessing. I think it might have been a little closer to 1880 but not sure. My great grandmother was born in July of 1872 and her brother was born in Feb. of 1870. They were living with their parents in a log cabin on the Trinity River bottoms near Wilmer and Ferris which is in Ellis county. Their last name was Anderson. I do not know what the parents names were. The father was a heavy drinker and would go out for days drinking and then come home mean and wanting to fight and the last time the children saw their parents, the father was drunk and beating their mother with a big pillow off of the bed and chased her out of the cabin. The next thing we know is that t! he children were found on the river bottoms nearly starved and eating tree roots. I've searched since the 1970's to try to find out who the parents were and what happened to them. The kids were taken in by town's people and raised. The boy, Mac Anderson was adopted by T.J. Weatherford and given the Weatherford name. The girl was raised by F.M. Neely but not adopted and she kept the Anderson name. The boy was listed in the 1880 Dallas county census as Mac Anderson, adopted son of Thomas Weatherford. The Weathefords were in Wilmer or that area of Dallas county in 1880 but moved shortly after that to Ferris in Ellis County which is only about 3 to 5 miles south of Wilmer. I do not know if the father killed the mother or what. I think it odd that she never went back to her kids if he didn't kill her.
