    3. 3. Sandra, Election Day 2002 Please do NOT laminate anything of value in plastic. What Charlie2 may have ment was to encapsulate them in archival quality protective material. This is not a heat process and the adhesive does not touch the document. Plus the material used won't destroy the document as heat lamination will. I know the chemistry just well enought to get into trouble <grin>, so I rely on advice from the professionals. Contact any knowledgable archivist and you'll get this same advice. You'll find more informed advice at www.Cyndislist.com/preservation.htm than you can digest. Perhaps the best explaination I've seen is at www.archives.state.co.us/cpa/articles/paper/encapsulation.htm but there are many others. Actually, developing a relationship with a nearby college that teaches preservation, archiving and/or records managment, might be your best bet in the long run. In our area there are a number of evening classes taught on preservation of home-found documents, but we're spoiled in the DFW area <grin again>. Cheers . . .
