Hi Herb, The very same thing happened to me. The State kept saying they did not have any record of my gg grandmother's death. I finally got a cousin to go to the county and sure enough - there it was. This was in Potter Co., Texas. Emma In a message dated 11/8/2005 12:57:52 P.M. My grandfather died at home in 1923 in Celina, Collin Co., TX but there was no death certificate available. After several years of trying to get a copy through the State, I was in the Collin Co. Clerk's office. Walking down one of the isles, a very nondescript set of shelving got my attention and especially one three-ring notebook which I preceded to remove and examine. The first thing that jumped out at me was the notebook contained very old original copies of many death certificates. The next thing was finding my grandfather's missing death certificate. At that time, he had been dead for about 75 years. Herb Cunningham herbcunnin@aol.com
