Hi Bryant, Texas has kept death records at the state level since 1903 (although reporting them to the state wasn't all that consistant until the 1930s). If the BROOKS died in TX in 1912 and 1927, you can get a lookup in the TX Death Records from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission: http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/vitalfaq.html Scroll to the bottom of their page and e-mail your request to them. If they have the records, their response will also tell you how to get their death certificates. He must have done well as a gambler. In 1910, he is listed in Dallas, TX, as A. D. Brooks, occupation "own income". He is living on the Twelfth block of Crawford St., Pct. #7, age 74, b. NY, living with wife Mary E., 64, b. TX. She had 5 children, all living. They were each md. once, for 46 yrs. With them is Johnson Hale, 43, manager at an ice factory, his wife Ada B. 35, daus Mary, 8 and Ada, 4. > bryant martin wrote: > One of my relatives, Arnold D. Hi Genie: I'm confused about one sentence in your message. I have it underlined and highlighted below. Can you explain what exactly it means? Much thanks!
