Hi Herb, The very same thing happened to me. The State kept saying they did not have any record of my gg grandmother's death. I finally got a cousin to go to the county and sure enough - there it was. This was in Potter Co., Texas. Emma In a message dated 11/8/2005 12:57:52 P.M. Central Standard Time, HerbCunnin@aol.com writes: The problem in not being able to find a death certificate might be that the county in question failed to file the death certificate in question. My grandfather died at home in 1923 in Celina, Collin Co., TX but there was no death certificate available. After several years of trying to get a copy through the State, I was in the Collin Co. Clerk's office. Walking down one of the isles, a very nondescript set of shelving got my attention and especially one three-ring notebook which I preceded to remove and examine. The first thing that jumped out at me was the notebook contained very old original copies of many death certificates. The next thing was finding my grandfather's missing death certificate. At that time, he had been dead for about 75 years. Herb Cunningham herbcunnin@aol.com
Unfortunately that's true all over Texas i live in the Texas panhandle and quite frequently I'm told if it's before 1930 don't be surprised if the state doesn't have it. That is also true of Oklahoma ---- Original Message ---- From: ENC6@aol.com To: TXDALLAS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TXDALLAS] Re: TXDALLAS-D Digest V05 #124 Date: Wed, 9 Nov 2005 19:53:07 EST > >Hi Herb, > >The very same thing happened to me. >The State kept saying they did not have any record of my gg >grandmother's >death. >I finally got a cousin to go to the county and sure enough - there it > was. >This was in Potter Co., Texas. > >Emma > >In a message dated 11/8/2005 12:57:52 P.M. Time to plead for any help out there- Regino Villareal was born prior to 1900, as he and first wife (Regina?) had a son, Fermin, born that year. He remarried later to Tomasa Martinez, and had Daniel Martinez Villareal and Rudolph Villareal, prior to 1920. Rudy/Rudolph was born in Elgin, Texas. One posting I found mentioned that Regino died in Dallas about 1937, but I cannot find confirmation of that. Daniel and Rudy both are buried at Restland. Regino and Tomasa should be found in the 1920 census, I suspect in Bastrop county, but maybe Dallas (long shot). If someone would be kind enough to pull this rabbit out the hat for me, I would be very grateful. Wendy __________________________________ Yahoo! Janet was the daughter of Arthur W. Wilson and Clara Detweller. She was born before 1921. Janet had a daughter Joan to her first husband and in August, 1939 she married Eugene Van Vocher. Eugene and Janet Van Vocher had a daughter Linda Louise Van Vocher (born sometime before October, 1941). According to a cousin's letter, dated Jan. 20, 1960, Janet was a music teacher in Dallas. Does anyone know if Janet (Wilson) Van Vocher is still alive? Does anyone know the Van Vocher family? I would like to exchange family information about the Hoskinson and Wilson families.

I just thought I would add that several of my mother's siblings born before 1909 were born at home a never were registered. Later they had to have another sibling or relative testify that they indeed had been born at home and they were who they proclaimed to be so they could get social security cards. Many folks put births in the family Bible which was also used as proof. Sandy Bomar Surnames: Bond, Gooden, McMillan, Haney, Smith, Nance, King, Norman, Brookshire.

I had another thought on this Jeanne. B. in Clara B. could have been transcribed wrong. That did happen a lot. E and B would be easily mistaken if not written clearly. Good luck, Linda
Hi Jeanne, There's 1 Clara OLIVER in the TX Death Records -- Clara E. She died on 11 Jul 1952. There was a Belle OLIVER who died on 3 Jun 1949. Do you know where in TX Clara Belle OLIVER died or where in TX she's buried? Are you sure her name was Clara Belle and that her date of death was 31 Jul 1952? Could she have died in another state and been buried in TX? Bill Allen <misterbill@pdq.net>

Dear listers, I went to the Dallas Public Library to look at their Death Certificate Index for my grandmother, Clara Belle Oliver. I found her, but the number of the certificate was blurred. I looked at several of the certificates (I guessed), but could not find her. Even the librarian helped me look, but she didn't have any luck, either. Here is her data: Clara Belle McBride Oliver b. 28 January 1891 Wisc. d. 31 July 1952 TX. Can anyone help me with this? Regards, Jeanne
