Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZkB.2ACI/2986.1 Message Board Post: William D Dunn is indexed as being in the 1910 DeWitt County, Texas census. The record that appears is an actual page of the DeWitt census. William D Dunn 3-Pct, Dewitt, TX abt 1866 Tennessee White Male 1910; Census Place: 3-Pct, Dewitt, Texas; Series: T624; Roll: 1545; Page: 141A; Enumeration District: 89; Part: 2; Line: 2. I have found this error before and you have to use above information to go to actual page of the Dallas census to find him. You have to check the ED and page number in the upper right hand corner and select 3-Pct not 3 J Pct by using the "browse" feature on Heritagequest until you get to page 141A. 23 Apr 1910, Texas, Dallas, Justice Precinct 4, T624 Roll: 1545 Page: 141, Dwelling # 38. The Town of Mesquite is actually listed on some of these pages prior to 141. William D Dunn, white male, 44, widower, TN TN TN, rented farm property. Maude B Dunn, daughter, age 17, TX TN AR In the 1930 census I find an Ethel McCallum who was born appx 1886 in TX whose parents were from TN according to this record. Her husband was Willie McCallum and they lived in Pct 4 in 1930. A check of the 1900 census shows an Ethel DUNN in Pct 3, born 1886 name is listed as DURN. Her parents and older siblings from TN. Her father was born 1836 and his name appears to be George Dunn. Her mother, Mandy, born 1849. I do not see that this Ethel is connected to Wm Dunn and may not even be the same Ethel McCallum of 1930.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZkB.2ACI/2996.3 Message Board Post: The old Calvary Cemetery is located just north of downtown Dallas on Hall Street, just northwest of the Central Expressway and southeast of McKinney Ave. It is accessible from Hall Street and is well kept. There are several other cemeteries located in the area including Emamuel, Greenwood and the Freedmen's memorial. If you have access to a Dallas Mapsco, it is on map 45C. The records for this cemetery were lost in a fire years ago. Only about half of the grave sites have markers. However, several years ago, the Ursuline nuns mapped the cemetery and identified the remaining markers. The map is kept at the new Calvary Hill Cemetery on Lombardy Lane in Dallas. I suggest you contact them to determine if markers are there for your people but you may have to be insistent since not all the employees seem to know the map exists. Good luck.

    1. Elihu Cason
    2. Are there any descendants of Elihu Cason on this list that might have some info? I am posting this query for Jesse Cason who is now 90 years of age and lives in Texas. At this time in his life he is not comfortable tackling the computer, but has been searching for many years for the parents of his Benjamin Cason. This is what we know: Benjamin Cason born ca 1788 in South Carolina. He was on the census in 1840 and 1850 Meriwether Co., Georgia and 1860 Polk Co., Georgia. His wife is Sarah (maiden name unknown) born ca 1798 in Georgia. His known children are Elihu born ca 1826 in S.C., Jane born ca 1829 in Georgia, Benjamin born ca. 1830 in Georgia and Frances born ca 1833 in Georgia. Have no information on Jane or Benjamin, Elihu was in Dallas Co., Texas by 1880 and many of his descendants are in Dallas Co. now. Frances married John Mason and I believe she died in Polk Co., Georgia before 1880. In 1850 Larkin Cason born ca 1776 is visiting in the home of Benjamin. This leads me to believe he was a brother or cousin to Benjamin. Fairly certain this is the Larkin Cason that married Mary Moseley and lived in Abbeville Co., S.C. In 1850 Mary is with her granddaughter in Abbeville. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Betty Cason

You might check it out--maybe someone has entered some of the names you're interested in. Have you ever looked there? In findagrave.com select the link for 'search for a cemetery' and enter 'calvary hill' and 'texas'. In the results, you can click on the cemetery name and do a search, or you can click on the number of interments and browse through all the submissions. (There are several ways to do searches on that website--it's growing and becoming increasingly useful.) Also, if you post the names here on the Dallas forum, maybe someone can look something up.

Yesterday was the first time I posted - and it's very exciting to receive your reply. I don't know anything about Dallas, except that it is big! Mrs. Patton lived on Normandy. Is that street in Dallas, or a smaller nearby city, or just the metro area? My Aunt Pauline Kindla Herritage lived in an area of Dallas that was always mentioned in news reports of tornados when I was a kid late 40's - 50's. I've studied a Texas map but nothing range a bell. Any suggestions? Thanks again for sharing the announcement. I don't know if you are related to Barbara (Smokey), but I have some dates and a couple of photos of her and my Dad. My sister Rose always says Smokey was very good to her. Best regards and thanks again. Lois

    2. there were two Catholic cemeteries in Dallas with the word calvary in the title the first was Calvary Cemetery located at North Hall the second one is Calvary Hill located in Northwest dallas check out this link http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/1926/dalcem.html Peter A. Kurilecz Richmond, Va pakurilecz@aol.com -----Original Message----- From: dmartin295@sbcglobal.net Thanks for replying to my query. However, I wonder if we are talking about the right one. I would expect the Calvary Hill Catholic Cemetery that I am looking for to be somewhere in the central or south Dallas area. Possibly I am mistaken in the name of the cemetery. Maybe it is just Calvary Hill and I have a listing that mentions Hall Street, but cannot locate the street on my map.
