I don't find it particularly user friendly. But to get to the resources you must get a password from your local library to use it. There is a place in there to request look-ups on the Death Index - it was hard to find, but it is there. Good luck. Debi

Hi, Saw your message. RAOGK stands fpr Random Acts Of Genealogy Kindness. It is my understanding that site is where you may or will get people that will do some searching for you. I just discovered that sight by a friend. You may have to go into the area that you are searching. I believe they only request that you do the same for someone else. I had a gentleman in Texas found a lot of good information for me. Try it see what happens. You may have to type in the state you need assistance with. I try to help sometime. I go to Washington D.C. to the Archives, Library of Congress and DAR. We have a group that goes once a month. If I can help you at all I try. My research is slower because I do not access to this information where I am, which is Maryland. I was able to find military records for 2 people. I only charge for the photo copying. Lots of luck, If you need me iI will try. I was luck to find my family on the 1930 Census last month. If I come across any other information I will email you. I've seen your name on the DHS and other boards, too. You've help a lot of folks. I visited Oakland Cem. in early June. Harold, the caretaker, found the index cards for my folks, but they don't show parents or other personal data. He said the old physical documents from Loudermilk are now at Sparkman-Hillcrest, but that most (if not all) are on microfilm at the Dallas Public Library. I haven't made it to either place yet. I would like to find obits to find info about causes of death, relatives, etc. Thanks, again. Fred

You may have tried this already, but I thought I post my message anyway. I was looking for info on my gr. gr. grandfather. When I received the death certificate back, I followed the funeral home through the phone book listing and Jim Wheat's site. He died in 1920 and Loudermilk was the undertaker. I traced them to what is now Hillcrest Memorial. They still have records from back then and were willing and ble to fax me a copy of the original paperwork that was drawn up. Anyway...sorry, my message was so long, but thought it might help. Good Luck!

If this index exists, could someone tell me if there is a Pauline Shorter or Benjamin Shorter listed? Pauline was born in 1850 and Benjamin in 1845. Thanks much! Sue in MN
Where would I look to find out the exact date of death (and possibly birth) for Carroll Leach Stevens who died in the City of Dallas in about February 1958? Thanks for any help. Mildred Greenstreet

Rev. Groom was the pastor here at one time and taught at Rylie. Mom said after the black congregation moved from the church, the old church finally fell down and was removed. It is a shame is is forgotten.

I've since searched several different sites I have for Dallas Co. Cems. The cemetery you've described is considered "unnamed". This is only data I found. ------------------ Cem on North side of Haymarket where it turns North, Oak Grove Baptist, 2205 Haymarket, Dallas. ------------------ My guess is that Oak Grove Baptist Church may have something on the history of this cemetery, due to proximity.
