I'm searching for the extended family of Doylene BRUNSON. She was daughter of Dallas Belvie (Bell) LOTER CUNNINGHAM, granddaughter of John Wesley & Sarah Adeline (DORMAN) LOTER. If you know of Doylene's children - Don, Joyce, Judy and Brenda - or have them in your family line, please contact me. John Wesley & Sarah are ancestors of mine. TIA, Candi
Hi Debi, Oh, come on now! You may have been looking for a million years but not a trillion years. You're not that old ... are you? The Texas State Library and Archives Commission can give you the exact date when he died. Scroll to the bottom of their web page and e-mail your request to them. Give 'em his name, the county where he died and when he died (death records from 1903 to 1940 are indexed together). Hi, I am looking for someone who may have any details on The Jefferson Hotel in Dallas Texas. Thanks, Debi
Does anyone know if anyone is working on a transcription of Grove Hill Cemetery or if one already exists? Annabella
Hi, I am new to the Dallas County, Texas list. I recently came into some information, and found that I have been looking in the wrong county for about a trillion years! Maybe something could have given me a clue, when I didn't find anything, but no, I had to keep looking..... I am trying to find out information about a suicide-shooting, in Dallas Texas...in about 1933 (give or take a few years, each way). The man I am trying to find is Daniel W. Johnson born, 1871. Daniel shot himself in the Jefferson Hotel (near where Kennedy was assassinated). Back ground on Daniel. He was one of the first Airport ticket office employees at the Airport. He wife was named Gertrude Amanda. If anyone has this info, or can do a lookup, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Debi Harrington California

I agree. If it had not been for Mr. Wheatley's diligence, I would not have located an ancestor of mine, nor his current family which is still living. Mr. Wheatley, KEEP IT UP. Now I wish I didn't, thanks to Mr. Roy Drake. Gee, what's the big deal about Mr. Wheatley taking pictures of tombstones and posting them on the internet so relatives that live too far to visit can see them? For me to see my relatives tombstone I have to get permission from Mr. Roy Drake, plus have it notorized? Give me a break! I guess he'll want proof that I'm related also? My family paid for those tombstones and I shouldn't have to get permission from anyone to have a picture taken of their graves! Mr. Wheatley, I'm behind you 100%!!! One more thing - Mr. Drake says he has a brother buried there. When people look at Mr. Wheatley's tombstone pictures they are only interested in their OWN family, not neccessarily Mr. Drake's family. I am looking to the Hamby family that married into the Smith family in Dallas Co. and I think they owned a steakhouse called the Hoffbrau in Ft. They make the world's BEST steaks!

Sandra, Election Day 2002 Please do NOT laminate anything of value in plastic. What Charlie2 may have ment was to encapsulate them in archival quality protective material. This is not a heat process and the adhesive does not touch the document. Plus the material used won't destroy the document as heat lamination will. I know the chemistry just well enought to get into trouble <grin>, so I rely on advice from the professionals. Contact any knowledgable archivist and you'll get this same advice. You'll find more informed advice at www.Cyndislist.com/preservation.htm than you can digest. Perhaps the best explaination I've seen is at www.archives.state.co.us/cpa/articles/paper/encapsulation.htm but there are many others. Actually, developing a relationship with a nearby college that teaches preservation, archiving and/or records managment, might be your best bet in the long run. In our area there are a number of evening classes taught on preservation of home-found documents, but we're spoiled in the DFW area <grin again>. Cheers . . . There are articles on some of the Hortons of Eagle Ford on Handbook of Texas Online and on Jim Wheat's Dallas County Texas Archvies site (you can search for these). I think the Hortons lived right next to our Newtons in Eagle Ford, and I believe both families had members or near-relatives who married Cockrells. Ezra Williams (E.W.) Newton was the first postmaster of Eagle Ford in the 1860s. His widow Persis (P.M.) Newton sold land there to a James Horton (!) and the Newtons' son Ernest and wife Lula are both buried in the Horton Family Cemetery there. I will see if I have more on them.
