Minnie WALL married Elmer Clark MORRIS sometime after 1915 and prior to 1921. She was from Arkansas. She had one child, Elmer Wall MORRIS. From what I am told she died in about 1921/22 time period. Does anyone recognize this name? I am trying to find out vital dates for her as well as where she is buried. It is thought that she may have died in the Dallas area. Thanks for any assistance. Copyright on the edition is 1984..so it's later than when I knew Mrs. England..but it lists a Mrs. Charles England(Yvonne). I'm not sure if that is the Mrs. England that I knew or maybe her son. I would think that Charles England would be the son of the Mrs. England that I knew growing up. I say this cause it lists her on the active Cooking Committee..and not just as a contributor.

This would be around 1973...to give you a time reference...so this would of been either the person you're looking for or their daughter maybe. They had lived in the community for a very long time, so there's some chance that there are still other relatives in the area as well. Cedar Hill/Lancaster was a very small community back in those days and most folks knew each other. I'm sure the church would have records and such of family members.
Hello list, I am still waiting for a copy of my Uncle Alexander C.Long's birth certificate. I have mailed two checks to Vital records for one. I received a letter that stated they kept the first check for researching. I had sent in the wrong date. So thanks to one of you who found the correct date I should receive one. I also sent a check for a death certificate and haven't heard from it. I believe I had the wrong date on it. So thanks again for all of your help. It is a great list. Bonnie T.

Lee A. WOLF was born abt. 1883 in Arkansas. Both of his parents were born in AR according to the census. He married Annie Cleveland KELLY (my great-grandfather's sister) circa 1910. It is unknown when Lee, Sr. died. Of this union were born at least two sons: James M. WOLF and Lee A. WOLF, JR. James was born abt. 1911 and Lee was born abt. 1919...both born in TX. This is the extent I know of this WOLF family. I do know some things about 'Cleve.' I know that after Lee died that she moved to Houston, TX to live with her sisters, however since she was the last of the family to die, she moved back to Dallas and died in 1969. I also believe they are buried there. I found a James M. WOLF, Sr. who died in Dallas in 1986 in the Texas Death Index, but nothing on Lee A. WOLF. If anyone knows anything about this family, please contact me at [email protected] Thank you. Mike

I don't remember anymore details..about them..like first names..but I do remember that Mrs. England was a great cook..and a very nice lady.
Dixie, I got in on the tail-end of yours, but thought I would let you know that I, too, am researching in Lancaster. I am not too far from there, but will not be able to get back until after the first of the year. But at that time, will be glad to search along with mine, if you would like. I lucked up and found the funeral home that has all the old records of deaths and their burial places. I was only able to get those of my grandparents because I am a relative, but if you want me to proceed, please email me at: [email protected] Shirley

Our Olaf and Annie Ruth Anderson were both born in Mt. Pleasant, Sanpete County, UT. Olaf Christian Anderson has three mothers listed in our family, the first two must have died. His father's name is believed to beChristian Anderson. Annie Ruth Ericksen Anderson was definitely born in Utah, as her family was Mormon. The Andersons moved to Dallas in the early 1900s, where Olaf was a music professor, and attended East Dallas Christian Church. They are my father's grandparents. My mom and aunt have both passed on, but their grandparents were known as Olaf and Annie Anderson. Our Annie was born in 1867 Lima, IA and died in 1953, Mission TX. Their son Willard, was born in 1859 in Frankfurt Kansas. That's all the info I have, and doubt that they settled near Dallas in the ealy 1900's since my mom was born in San Antonio in 1920. But, if you run across other Olaf's, I'd appreciate the heads-up. tnx

We would like to invite you to re-visit our website, The POORHOUSE STORY (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com We have just published a scan of the 1900 Census page for DALLAS County which includes the list of residents of the County Poor Farm. Our thanks to Dawn Sanders for having shared this with us. DIRECTIONS: At the homepage (link above) click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then on TEXAS on the table of states. If you have been to the website recently you may have to click REFRESH or RELOAD on the browser to see the new information. There are other pages on the site which may give you some interesting perspective on poorhouses. They are off the homepage and include: the HISTORY page and the LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS as well as FEATURED ARTICLES. There are great tips for researching poorhouse records for yourself on the RECORDS page; and you might want to subscribe to our (almost) monthly newletter (which you can do in the lower right corner of the homepage). The information on our site will only grow through the submissions of generous readers. If you would like to e-mail me ... please do so off-list because I cannot maintain subscriptions to as many lists as we post messages on. (You can use an e-mail link off one of our web pages.) We hope you enjoy the site! Thanks, Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)
