Barbara > > > Hi Barbara, Here is some more information: Of Jefferson Weatherford's children by his 1st marriage I have the following: Harbard S. Weatherford - b. abt 1834 Ill - d. it is thought before 1890 in Dallas Co., Tx md Margaret Neely on 7 June 1858 in Dallas Co., Tx I have only these children so far for Harbard & Margaret: Addie - abt 1862 T. Jeffrey - abt 1865 I have Harbard and his family in the 1870 census for Dallas Co., Tx but have not located them in 1880 yet. Benton Burrell Weatherford - b. abt 1837 in Illinois - married a Sarah A. B. and here are the children I have so far for them: Sam N - abt 1867 Perry D. - abt 1870 Mary M. - abt 1875 Sarah H. - abt 1877 I have Benton and his family in the 1870 census of Dallas Co., Tx and the 1880 census of Hood Co., Tx Of his children with Mary Stadden I have the following info. Thomas - b. abt 1841 in Ill - based on the 1870 census I think he married a lady named Margaret. In that census they are shown with a son William, age 4. Living with them is a James Perry, age 11 b. in Texas. I have wondered if this is not the James Perry who later marries Edith Weatherford. Milbrey Weatherford - b. abt 1844. All I have on her so far is that she is supposed to have married someone named A. B. Gillespie. So far I have not found them in census records. And now for the children of Jefferson Weatherford and Sarah Martin: Ellen Weatherford - b. 3 Jan 1853 - md. 1st David Lovett on 9 Feb 1871 - md 2nd to Edward H. Samuel on 30 Aug 1878 Children include: Syrena Lovett - abt 1873 John Lovett - abt 1875 Will Lovett - abt 1876 M. C. Sept 1856 - md 10 Oct 1875 to James H. Perry. In the 1880 census James Perry and Edith are in Dallas Co., Texas. James is listed as age 22 which would fit with that James, age 11 mentioned above. The 1880 census shows them with Ollive (female), age 4 and Thomas A. , age 2. I was given the names of other children as Samuel Newton Perry, James Ira Perry, and Seth Perry. Hope this helps - take care - Emma

Did Harbard > Weatherford have children? > Thanks very much for any help you can give me regarding any of these > people. Barbara > > Ok Barbara... lets give this a try.... <grin> First of all, Harbard S. Weatherford wasn't an uncle to Edith and Seth, he was their half brother and all were children of Jefferson Weatherford and one of his wives. Jefferson Weatherford was born abt 1811 in Tennessee, the son of Money Weatherford and Frances Spragens. Jefferson md. 1st to Milbrey (Milberry) - I do not know her last name but believe they were married in Illinois. They had the following children that I know of so far: Martha - abt 1832 Harbard S. - abt 1834 Benton Burrell - abt 1837 I have been told that he married a 2nd time to Mahalia Drennan on 26 Aug 1840 but I have not been able to verify that. If he did it was certainly a short marriage because on 18 Mar 1841 he married Mary Stadden in La Salle Co., Illinois. Jefferson and Mary had the following children that I am aware of so far: Thomas - abt 1841 Milbrey - abt 1844 William - abt 1848 Mary - abt 1851 And... then... on 2 Mar 1852 Jefferson married Sarah Martin Neely in Dallas Co., Texas. They were married by Samuel Clark, minister of the gospel and my great, great grandfather. Jefferson and Sarah had the following children that I am aware of so far: Ellen - 3 Jan 1853 Syrena (Serena) - abt 1855 William Edith - Sept 1856 Seth S. - abt 1862 Sarah Martin Neely - by her 1st marriage to Charles Neely on 12 June 1834 - had the following children: Cynthia Jane - abt 1838 William Marion - abt 1840 Margaret - abt 1843 Sarah - abt 1846 In the 1850 census of Dallas Co., Texas - pg. 92B the family looks like this: Jefferson Weatherford - 39 - farmer - Tn Mary - 39 - Ohio Harbird - 16 - farmer - Ill Burrell - 13 - Ill Thomas J. - 9 - Ill Milbery - 6 - Ill William - 2 - Tx His mother Frances Weatherford, age 73, b. in Va lives next to him. By 1855 Jefferson Weatherford was serving as a member of the State Senate representing the Senatorial District that included Tarrant, Dallas, & Parker counties. In the 1860 census the family looks like this: Jeff Weatherford - 50 - farmer - Tn Sarah - 40 - Ill B. B. - 23 - Ill Thomas J. - 20 - Ill M. E. (female) - 17 - Ill Mary - 9 - Tx Ellen - 7 - Tx Syrena - 5 - Tx Edith - 1 - Tx Bailey, Stervis (male) - 19 - Laborer - Ky I should probably start another message as this one is getting a bit long. Am seeking further information on a William J. Schreffler listed as a carpenter in the 1878 Dallas City Directory. An ancestor, William J. Schreffler, was a carpenter in Wilson County Kansas in 1870 and it's known that at least two of his children lived in Texas later (c. 1900). I'm hypothesizing that the William J. Schreffler in Dallas is the same person and am trying to verify his move to Texas. William J. Schreffler (1843-1898) m. Matilda Caroline Heitz (1847 - ?). Children - Ida E., William C., Charles E., Wade W. Charles E. Schreffler played baseball in the El Paso League in 1902. Wade W. Schreffler's son, Willie, was born in Texas in 1909. Died in Scroggins, Franklin County, Texas in 1994. Wade's daughter, Eda Mae, married Edgar Chew of El Paso. She died in Austin, Tx in 1989. The Schrefflers are descendents of Johann Heinrich Schreffler of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Any help appreciated! Martha Schreffler

I can't believe Jane Fondren would have been buried in an unmarked grave. All other family members have a nice monument. She is in the 1870 census, but her husband John remarried in 1873, so I surmise Jane died between 1870 and 1873. Thank you, Jerry

From http://www.elliscounty.com/ferris_info.htm " Thomas J. Weatherford born Dec. 29, 1841, in Illinois, moved from Wilmer to Ferris in 1881. He organized the second brick plant in 1901 (Ferris Press Brick Co.). He founded the Globe Press Brick Co. in 1905 and was also in various mercantile enterprises including dry goods, wagons, buggies and implements." I don't know where Mary Fondren Weatherford is buried, but her parents, Morris and Millie Fondren, are buried in Lancaster Edgewood Cemetery. Hi Barbara, If they died in TX after 1903, get a lookup from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission: http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/vitalfaq.html Scroll to the bottom of their web page and e-mail your request to them. If the TSLAC finds them, their response will also tell you how to get their death certificates. The death certificates will tell you where they're buried, the funeral home that buried them, etc. Bill Allen <[email protected]> Barbara Samuels wrote: > Thomas J. Hi Jackie, TX began recording death records in 1903. You can get a lookup in the TX Death Records from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission: http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/vitalfaq.html Scroll to the bottom of their web page and e-mail your request to them. Give them her (and his) name, the date (death records from 1903-1940 are indexed together) and where you think she died.
