Surnames: BENEDICT TEVIS DAILEY GARRISON HAGUE TIPTON WAKEFIELD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZkB.2ACI/1961 Message Board Post: I am searching for my maternal grandmother's family, the Benedicts. Frederick Starr Benedict was born in Fairfield Co. CT and migrated to Meade Co. KY then on to Marion Co. Missouri. Several of his children remained in Marion Co. but three sons moved southward and ended up in Dallas Co. Texas. My great grandfather was George Washington Benedict b. September 2, 1870 married to Martha Elizabeth Middleton. They had 9 children, one of whom was my grandmother, Jessie Alma Benedict Tevis. I have reason to believe, but no concrete evidence, that George W.'s father was Charles Augustine Benedict, son of Frederick Starr. I know for sure that my great grandfather was born in Marion Co. Missouri. I know that he is buried in Smith Cemetery (used to be known as Union Bower) in the Dallas area. He is buried there with two of his children that died very young, John H. and Sadie Benedict. Beside him is the grave of Henry S. Benedict, born June 2, 1844 d. 1910. This birthdate coin! cides with that of Henry Starr Benedict, son of Frederick. A city directory for Dallas around 1893 lists Charles A. and George W. living very near each other in Dallas. An 1880 census for Marion Co. lists the home of Chas. and Mary M. Benedict along with son, George W. but lists his age as 8 years old when according to his birthdate, he should have been 10. (?) Other children of George W. and Martha E. Benedict are Myrtle Mildred, Daisy Bell, Nancy Ann, Nora, Richard Albert, Frederick Allen, Sadie Katherine, and John Henry. If anyone can help to fill in some holes in this story or has information on this family, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Hugh, The cemetery where they're buried, the funeral home that buried them, etc. will all be on their death certificates. You can get a lookup from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Scroll to the bottom of their page and e-mail your request to them. The response will tell you how to get their death certificates.
