Michael, Nearly everything on the website is taken from the book, with notations of this fact at the bottom of the pages. The main part of the book consists of family stories submitted by descendants. As such it is a wealth of info. Of course if your ancestors were here but left no one to place this info in there the only way they might be mentioned would be through marriage into another family that has an entry. I just cannot urge anyone enough to get one of these books. Nothing comes close to having so much county history. It tells of all of the previous officials of the county. It tells of all of the lost settlements, due to Ft. Hood, cemeteries, schools and post offices. In the family sketches some carry their families back many generations.I would say that even if your family was not mentioned that the book is worth the price just for the county information. This book was done about 10 years ago, and the Society had it reprinted 3 years ago due to popular demand. I look at it this way, if I made a trip to Gatesville to do research it would cost me more than that and I know that you would not gain that much information on one trip! It is for sale on the home page, along with an order blank. ---------- > From: Michael Allen <[email protected]> > To: Bobbie Ross <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: Beaty > Date: Sunday, September 20, 1998 10:54 PM > > Is this the book advertised on the Coryell website for about $65 ?
