Sue, I don't know if you've spent any time with the 1880 census but this is what I find: Page 417B, #441-446 is: Murrell, Lum B. 22 Farmer TX LA MO Albert H. 17 brother " " " Josephine 19 sister " " " Orah C. 14 sister TX On the next page: 418A # 446-451 is: Burgess, James 21 Farmer TX TX TX Tennessee P. 21 wife TN TN TN I'll bet these are your people and it gives you a wealth of info. Don't worry about the spelling of Ima Ophelia, the census takers could neither spell or write well. This tells you where they and parents were born. Evidently James' first wife must have died, probably in childbirth. I don't find Spencers in close proximity, and in this case Ophelia is living with a 2 full brothers. This is a very good starting place.
