Hello, I am helping an older friend do his family history. He is researching his great-great grandfather William C. Hatton. I have located William in the 1860, 70, and 80 censuses. I have been trying to find where William b. about 1818, was buried. I believe he died sometime after 1884 as I found him listed in the land deeds records for Coryell county. There after, his wife Susan, about 8 years younger than William, was listed 2 times. William and Susan had 7 children. Alice b. 1851, George b. 1856, Susan b. 1858, Isabel b. 1859, William R. b. 1866, and Lewis b. 1867. These dates are approximate according to the data taken from the census records. They were listed in the Gatesville area, 2nd Precinct, per 1870 census, and Gatesville, 23rd Precinct, per 1880 census. William was a farmer and I am wondering if he might possibly have been buried on his property. Does any one on this list know of any private or early pioneer cemeteries in the Gatesville area? I recently had some microfilm interlibrary loaned here to my library and checked for marriages for his daughters but they were not listed. Since I live in Oregon, doing actual on site research is not an option. My friend, Dan, already contacted the Coryell County Genealogical society. They were not much help. I know that William was in the Civil War and was injured, lost left hand, but he is not listed in the pension records. Where would I find out if the land he owned was a result of being given by the government for duty in the war? Any suggestions and help would be most appreciated. Willing to pay for copies and postage if any one has other avenues for me to pursue. Thank you in advance for your help.
