Hello, Thought I'd send out my short family mystery. Hope someone has some idea to help. Researching the Barker/Sherwood/Beverly/Rush/Allin tree. My grandfather, John Sherwood, b.1833 in KY; d. Coryell Co. Jan, 1904, is my mystery. He stated in 1880 Bastrop Co. census that his father was born in "Germany" and his mother in PA. Unable to determine if John had any siblings. Believe it or not, there IS a "Germany" community in PA, but no Sherwoods there - ever, so far as I can determine. Mystery continues now since 1994 - which Germany? John married Nancy Barker in Logan Co., IL in 1865; moved his family (and 3 children) first to Bastrop Co., TX in abt. 1878, then joined Nancy's sisters and brother in Coryell Co. in abt. 1881-82. Nancy (Barker) Sherwood's sisters are Sophronia Beverly, Marinda Rush, Rhoda Barker (spinster); her brother is Hanan Barker, postmaster of the Cove for abt. 15 yrs. Hanan's daughter Edith married Joett Allin; no offsprings. It's longer than I thought it'd be. Thanks. Joyous Christmas to everyone. Congrats to Gatesville High! Also want to remind any newcomers that I am very glad to place your family biographies and a picture on line. Also I am still placing obituaries on line, have 631 of them so far.
