    3. It gets more interesting now. In 1833 a Nicholas D. Hanes married Elizabeth North Dec 3 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. 1880 Nicholas Hanes and Amanda Spears Spivey Hanes are in Williamson Co., TX. where one dau is born ca 1879, Udora Ann. They have a step-son Urie Spivey 13 years old. (Amanda must have been married to a Spivey at some time). Also in house hold is Love, Artimisie, sister-n-law age 19, with a dau, Annie M. age 1 1884 a N.G. Hanes is listed as a non land owner and our Nicholas Hanes and Amanda Spears have another child, Preston Green Hanes born Oct 20, 1884 in Gatrsville, Coryell Co., TX. In 1900 Lousia Spivey census of Commache Co., TX has in her house hold Dora A. age 20 and Preston age 15. I think that Nicholas D. Hanes is the father of Nicholas Hanes and also Nicholas Hanes is the same as N.G. Hanes of Coryell Co., non land owner. That Nicholas and Amanda somewhere in or between Coryell Co. and Commache Co. and that Louisa maybe as a relative took the two children into her home. I know this is a long email but I really do need some help on this one. 3. Hi Carol, Use the URL addresses below to view the pictures. Becky....... Dear Mail List Members: Mr. Roger M Pace has very kindly offered to post my Mother Neff Pictures to a URL for me. He is posting each picture on separate pages to leave the pics large so they will load faster. Please don't forget to let me know if you have any information on these pictures. These pictures are a treasure for me also. My great-grandparents James E and Helen (Shirley) McKinney owed a farm down from Mother Neff Park that still stands today. During the 1950's they sold the farm to Mr. H. H. Jones. The farm is still owed by the Jones family. The farm is called "River Ranch". James McKinney's parents (JWE & Mary (Barron) McKinney) lived on the Neff place and worked for the Neff family when Pat Neff was a boy. Pat Neff and JWE McKinney became friends. According to family stories Mary (Barron) and Mother Neff became good friends as well. I also grew up going to many-many-family reunions at Mother Neff Park. Picture one is at www.geocities.com/shamrocktx/neff1.jpg Picture two is at www.geocities.com/shamrocktx/neff2.jpg Picture three is at www.geocities.com/shamrocktx/neff3.jpg Picture four is at www.geocities.com/shamrocktx/neff4.jpg Picture five is at www.geocities.com/shamrocktx/neff5.jpg He will only leave the pics up for a month or so. So please share this information with everyone who is interested in these historical pictures. And please everyone join me in thanking Mr. Pace for his help. 3. Dear members, I can not send attachments by way of our members mailing list. (See Below) So I will send then to by email. These pictures take time to send. If I don't get yours sent tonight, I will save your email address and send them to you as soon as I have time. Thanks Becky We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so we find it's best just to use plain text. -- The RootsWeb staff

    3. Hello, fellow Mailing List members. In July of this year I was in McLennan & Coryell Counties visiting relatives. A cousin has given me copies of what I believe is the dedication and opening of Mother Neff Park (before it became a state park?) I would like to share these pictures with those of you who are interested. My hope is that some of you will be able to identify some of the people in the pictures, give me dates or any other information you are willing to share. I have five pictures. Please email me at: scolston@mwci.net and I will send them to you. Becky Colston

    3. Becky, I looked in the Gatesville Library -- the book's not there. Bobbie Thornton(who has documented many of the cemeteries in Coryell County) was in the Genealogy Library and I asked her if she knew about the book. No, but she suggested that you check with the Moody, Texas Library -- there is a Perry Cemetery in that area. Also, she said there are two ladies in a flower shop a block off Hwy 317 who know a lot about families in the area. Call Bobbie at 254-248-1190 and she can give you the ladies' names. I tried, but she wasn't home after I returned to Houston. Also, the McLennan County Genealogy Library in Waco might have a copy of the book. I didn't get to go to Moody or visit the library in Waco. Hope this will help! 3. I am trying to find an ancestor known as preacher Burns. In the Coryell County Kin, there is a mention of Elder J.R. Burns who ordained Marion Weeks in 1873 in the Little Band Church. Where was this church located? I believe this is our "Preacher Burns" we've been trying to locate records on. >From an autobiography of our grandmother, Lou Ella Bruton Lynch, her grandfather, "Preacher Burns" lived with his daughter, Mary Susie Burns Bruton & husband Albert Bruton in Hubbard, where grandma went to school. Preacher Burns performed the marriage ceremony for his grand-daughter, Lou Ella Bruton in October 1913. Was there a cemetery in Hubbard? Could somebody out there please find the name of Preacher Burns for me and his wife and children? I would like to be able to complete the family history. I know of 3 sibblings of Mary Susie Burns, a brother named John, known as "Bud", Annie, who married a Hackney, and Lillie. Thank You All for any help you can give me.
