    1. Maples - Carter families
    2. Judy Pajares
    3. Hi, I am new to the Coryel Co. list. I'm interested in finding information about the family of William Cordra Maples, Jr., who migrated to Coryel Co. in the mid-1800's. His son, and my g-grandfather, was Reuben Amos Maples. His daughter, Maidie Velma Maples, was my grandmother, and was born in Gatesville in the 1880's. The family evidently moved to Bell Co. before 1900. R. Amos was married to Sarah Carter. They are buried in Little River-Wilson Valley Cemetery. If anyone has any information on these families, I would appreciate it. Judy Freeman Pajares

    1. marriages of Rachel Eaton and Josiah Culps children
    2. Martha Barker
    3. Hi listers. Trying to find out information about the children of Rachel Eaton and Josiah Culps children. Specificly if any of their daughters married a Carodine. I found Rachel and James Carodine living with Rachel (Eaton)Culp and they were listed as her grandchildren. I have been unable to locate any information about a Culp, Carodine marriage. I believe it to be Rachel and Josiah's daughter Elizabeth, that married a Carodine, but can not be certain. Rachel Carodine and her husband Artemus Hudson are my gggrandparents. Any information, ideas or leads would be greatly appreciated. Martha W. Barker

    3. Dear List Members, I have not burdened you with these in the past, but since we are all genealogists and there is an off chance you might not have seen this. These quotes are from copies of actual correspondence received by the Family History Department of the LDS Church: Our 2nd great grandfather was found dead crossing the plains in the library. He was married 3 times in the endowment house and has 21 children. For running down the Wheelers, I will send $3.00 more. He and his daughter are listed as not being born. I would like to find out if I have any living relatives or dead relatives or ancestors in my family. Will you send me a list of all the Dripps in your library? My Grandfather died at the age of 3. We are sending you 5 children in a separate envelope. Documentation: Family Bible in possession of Aunt Merle until the tornado hit Topeka, Kansas, now only the Good Lord knows where it is The wife of #22 could not be found. Somebody suggested that she might have been still born--what do you think? I am mailing you my aunt and uncle and 3 of their children. Enclosed please find my Grandmother. I have worked on her for 30 years without success. Now see what you can do. I have a hard time finding myself in London. If I were there I was very small and cannot be found. This family had 7 nephews that I am unable to find. If you know who thery are, please add them to the list. We lost our Grandmother, will you please send us a copy? Will you please send me the name of my first wife? I have forgotten her name. A 14-year old boy wrote: " I do not want you to do my research for me. Will you please send me all of the material on the Welch line, in the US, England and Scotland countries? I will do the research. Further research will be necessary to eliminate one of the parents. And to close, this is a query I actually received this a.m. In the State of Minnesota, when a husband passes away is his wife entitled to any of his assets? They have been married 17 years and she did sign a post nuptial agreement. Bobbie

    1. Isom Clark Land Grant
    2. Keith Reed
    3. Cortell Co. List, I am researching the family of Isom Clark and his wife Jane C. (Williams) Clark. They are listed on the 1850 census of Van Zandt Co., Texas and are next found in records of Feb. 1853 receiving a Land Grant which was eventually in Coryell/Lampasas Co's. This grant was partially in Coryell and partially in Lampasas Co. near the Copperas Cove and Kempner area. Shortly after receiving this grant, Isom died. Records indicate that he was dead by 1857. Jane remarried a man named ? Simms sometime, but I do not know his first name or where they were married. While living in Lampasas/Coryell Co. a daughter of Isom & Jane named Mary Manerva Clark was married to James Sexton on June 22, 1858. This Mary M. (Clark) Sexton later married David Watkins in 1864 in Williamson Co. and then lived in San Saba and Burnet Counties. That second marriage took place after James Sexton was killed in the Civil War in 1863. I do not find Jane (Williams) Clark/Simms on the 1860 or 1870 census anywhere. She is next found living in Bell Co. on the 1880 census living with her son-in-law and daughter, Lewis Riddle and Rachell (Clark) Riddle. Jane is listed as Jane Simms, 74 years old, WIDOW, mid-wife. This means that Mr. ? Simms had also died before that date. Isom Clark and Jane C. (Williams) Clark had 19 children. Many of them were in Burnet/Bell/Williamson/San Saba Counties during the 1860's, 1870's and 1880's. I would be happy to share information on this family. I have information on many of them, but need information on Isom and his wife Jane. Keith Reed Arlington, Tx.

    3. Hi Bobbie I love those pictures. Did you ever get your pre Fort Hood map of Coryell Co. I saw the one you have posted, but its got that old Fort on it. The one they sent me was, I think 1940, and it had all the roads, schools, communities, cemeteries, etc. for that area. Cheers Cassie

    1. Logan Family
    2. Douglas Denson
    3. James Logan lived in Arnett, Coryell County, Texas when I was a child in the 50's. James Logan's son, Vernon Logan, bought the small rock house for his parents from money he saved while in the service during WWII. His daughter and Son in law, Gladys and Bee Thompson, (my grandparents) moved into his little rock house in Arnett in the early 50's to help care for Laura, his wife, who was ill. After Grandma Laura passed away they stayed and cared for him until his death. They ( the Thompson's) lived in the Logan's little rock house until about 1988 when they sold it and moved to Evant. I was in Coryell County in 1998 and the house is still there although no one lives in it now. Dad told me he remembers his Grandpa Logan having a BlackSmith shop down the road from the house in Arnett in the late 40's. I would like to make contact with anyone related to or researching this family in Coryell County. Where would be the best place to see them and take pictures? My son, my granddaughter and I were wanting to drive up towards Brenham or Chapel Hill and Washington on the Brazos and see the Bluebonnets. Any one know? Thanks Cassie
