Hello Group... Could someone please tell me if marriage records/licenses are available for 1856 in Coryell Co., and, if so, where I might write for a copy? Or, if there is a book that someone might be able to do a lookup in for me. Thank you, Shirley Gig Harbor, WA
Could you please look up James Frank Campbell and his wife Mary Caroline Warren Campbell in 1920 and 1910? Also, his brothers Thomas Jefferson Campbell and Charles Stinson Campbell may have been in Coryell County as well. Thank you so much for your help and all the work you do for Coryell County descendants. Bobbie-- Would it be possible to look up David Bradford, wife N. C. and Jesse (W. ?) Bradford. I believe David had moved to Bell County by this time, but want to make sure and have lost track of Jesse past about 1895. Thank You!! Nan Bradford-Reid Austin
Dear Bobbie: Thank you so much for offering to do a look up on the census index. If it is not too much trouble, I'm researching Dittrich (variations include Dietrich, Dittrick, Diettrick, Diettrich), Young, Kellum, Nagel, Krueger. Thank you, Pat
Dear Bobbie, Thank you for offering to look up our missing ancestors in your records. Would you please look up the surname Laman for me. Laman was also spelled Lemon or Lemmon by some. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks, Mary
Dear Bobbie, Thank You So Very Much for the generous offer to help the list members. Maybe, just maybe you will have some of our missing ancestors in your records. Could you please look for these three surnames for me? Bruton, Burns/Burnes, and Lynch? I really appreciate your help! This will speed things up for me when I got look at the microfilms. Thank You, Cindy
Dear List Members, For those of you who are working with the new CD census files, I have indexed the 1920 census. Will be glad to look up those locations for family you are seeking. I have a partial index of the 1910 census, but it is so terribly hard to read that it has limited value as an aid. Does anyone have access to a copy of "THE DIRECTORY OF DECEASED AMERICAN PHYSICIANS" either in book form or on a disk that they would be willing to do a look up? Am searching for Dr. MARVEL WHITNEY SELLERS and DR. JOHN WARD SELLERS. Thanks in advance for any assistance you might give, Lynda
The Genealogical Society put one out in the 80's, we have just reprinted and sold out again. This is a new one that the Museum is getting together and yes they can be ordered from Mrs. Swift at that number for the pre-publication price. Sorry if this hasn't been mentioned in a while, it has been going on a good while. Ok, where have I missed out on this "families" book the Museum is working on, and is this a different "families" book than the one the Coryell Co. Genea. Soc. puts out? And to order, do I call the" Mrs. Swift" number given? Thanks, Linda Jaschke
From past experiences - not necessarily with this publisher - the books are 6 to 12 months late, and in every case, WELL WORTH THE WAIT for a very fine finished product. Eear list members, the Gatesville paper for this week had an article about the Families book that the Museum is working on. It states that their entries were 3 times what they expected and they are still selling memorial and tribute pages. Books may still be ordered for $59.94 with $8 postage. Mrs. Swift may be reached at 254-470-2527. There is a place on our first page of the Coryell County site that has "Those that Paid the Ultimate Price" that lists everyone from the county who died in service of their country. Actually there were 8 from Coryell County killed in Vietnam. I just posted a message about the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Page. I would like for people in Texas that had family members and friends to check out this site. I intend to post it the the Coryell Co. Tx site also. There are four men listed from Gatesville, Tx that died or were MIA in Vietnam. http://thewall-usa.com/index.html The new system at Roots Web is not hard to post to. I think it will work good if we can all figure out how to use it. :o) Virginia Brown ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bobbie" <bwross@htcomp.net> To: <TXCORYEL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 02, 2001 11:00 AM Subject: Boards > We might each run a copy off of this message from Ancestry and keep to > help us get the most results until we get accustomed to the changes. We might each run a copy off of this message from Ancestry and keep to help us get the most results until we get accustomed to the changes. They really do insist that it will be an improvement. We'll see. Bobbie
Coryell List: This is what I was sent in response to my rather terse inquiry about the changes: -----Original Message----- From: Kana [mailto:kana@myfamilyinc.com] Sent: Thursday, June 28, 2001 9:58 AM To: Nan Bradford-Reid Subject: Re: Form message from http://www.ancestry.com/help/contact/main.htm (KMM2668910C0KM) Dear Nan Bradford-reid, Thank you for your e-mail. Ancestry.com and RootsWeb.com are extremely happy to announce our new integrated message board system. The new system no longer requires users to post messages on multiple sites at once. In addition, the new message boards will be "indexable" by the major Internet search engines, and as a result queries, discussions, and helpful suggestions from the genealogical community will reach the widest possible audience. In addition to new messages posted, the collection will contain over fifteen million messages from researchers who have shared their experience and expertise over the last two decades. Other enhancements include: -Cleaner, intuitive user interface -Improved search functionality with hits ranked by relevance -New personalization features like a "My Favorites list" and auto-notification -New infrastructure allowing for faster access, and larger traffic loads -Users will be able to view the e-mail address of message authors and respond to them easily and privately. However, the message boards cannot be "crawled" by unscrupulous third parties to gather e-mail addresses for spam mailings. -The new message boards will be able to handle attachments to e-mail messages in the form of uploaded pictures (scanned documents, family photos, etc.) and GEDCOM files. -A "preview message" feature will help users see what a message will look like once posted (and make any appropriate changes). -The new message boards also feature centralized and simplified administration capability for the benefit of the thousands of volunteers who monitor and administer individual boards. Administrative improvements include: -Each message board has a special "administrator" page, where administrators can supply information about themselves and/or the topic. They may even add helpful text and links to appropriate resources elsewhere on the Internet -URLs in messages are automatically recognized and hyperlinked so that users can visit referred sites on the Internet with one simple click -Administrators can take advantage of a convenient "recycle bin" feature which allows them to delete inappropriate messages (spam, inappropriate content, etc.) or even restore such messages if deletion was inadvertent For more information, please visit the Message Board Frequently Asked Questions at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=faq&r=an&p= To search the message boards on Ancestry.com please go to the following URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/ You can also access the message boards from the Ancestry.com home page (www.ancestry.com). Dear List Members, Appreciate the kind words, believe me a pat on the head is welcome after the last few days. I have been wading through about 400 e-mails a day on the administrators list. Hope I have figured out part of it. Please, everyone, do not do anything rash, wait and see how this works out, it may wind up being an improvement.
