    3. Bobbie: I did not get the message asking what we wanted from the list. We've had local server problems, too. When I was a little girl, and my Grandma-Myrtle May PRUETT GROSS b. 3 Nov 1892 m. Wm.Arthur GROSS (his mother was a BULLARD)-talked about growing up in Texas, Coryelle Co. always came up. She was 'from' there, she always said, raised there, had family there. It wasn't til after her death I found she wasn't born in Coryelle Co, after all, but Parker Co. Her brother, Jacob Benjamin PRUETT was b. Coryelle Co.,m.Mamie F. GROSS and Uncle Obediah PRUETT lived there his whole life. Her father, Cyrus Sylvester PRUETT was b. Coryelle Co. 1868,his mother was a REEDER, his grandmother an EATON. Well, I know that connections aren't always as easy to find as we hope, but with all the family that was there, that married into other families there, I had hoped to find folks who were connected to my PRUETT, CULP and GROSS lines. C.S. PRUETTs brothers were Jacob Lee, Willis M., John Alvin; one sister, Sarah Frances (Fannie). Carole GROSS HEDGER

    3. Patty, I have forwarded your post to three of your cousins, Randy McKenzie, Gib Murray, and Wiley Jarrel. My ancestors came to the Coryell Church community in the 1870's--Striblings and Kirklands, and 1880's --the Crains. I am related to Randy and Gib through the Gibsons, because one of my ancestors was Jenny Gibson, daughter of Jesse Gibson and Elizabeth Parmley. At this point we cannot connect Jane Gibson who married James McIlhaney to Jesse and Elizabeth Parmley Gibson. I'm researching the Beaty family and related lines. David Beaty (1789 - 1870) & Jean (Jane) Crockett had these children: .... 2 John Crockett Beaty b: January 02, 1812 .... +Elizabeth .... 2 Lucinda (Sinday) Beaty b: May 07, 1815 in TN d: August 27, 1876 in Coryell Co. Texas .... +William Beaty b: 1805 in KY d: November 25, 1856 m: 1833 in Saline Co. Missouri .... 2 Joseph Wood Beaty b: January 06, 1818 I have many of their descendants in my data, who lived in the Coryell Co. area for many years. My grandmother, Nora Eva Beaty was born in Mound, TX. Some of the related lines in Texas are: Selwood, Brown, Draper, Lamb, Pruett, and Crabtree. This family's origins are in Scotland, migrated to America in the 1750's, settled in PA, then Fentress and Overton Co's. in TN, then migrated through MO to TX. I have many other branches of the Beaty line in these other areas, I'd love to exchange information with any one who is also researching any of these names.... 3. Hi, Researching the surname HATTON, William C. Trying to find out more on his children and where in the world is he buried. Last notice I find of him is in land records about 1885 or 1886. Going to solve this mystery one way or another. I am doing this research for a friend, Dan P. Hatton. William's wife was Susan. Don't know where she was buried either. They are listed in the census for Gatesville. Where do I find out about Land Grants? WC was in the civil war and lost part of his left arm, but did not receive a pension. Does anyone have an idea why that may be? He belonged to Co. F 10th Texas Infantry. Does this mean he joined in Texas? Our guest speaker was our own member, Charles Reeve, who retired in 1979 after 40 years of working at the State School for Boys. We had an update on the condition of our president, Jimmy Yates, who continues on life support. They are hoping to have him home for Christmas, but things do not look good at present. Coryell County is being blessed at the moment with very good, soaking rains. This will do much to help the entire county for we have suffered a severe drought this year. 1. HATTON, William C.
    2. tendick
    3. Hello, I am helping an older friend do his family history. He is researching his great-great grandfather William C. Hatton. I have located William in the 1860, 70, and 80 censuses. I have been trying to find where William b. about 1818, was buried. I believe he died sometime after 1884 as I found him listed in the land deeds records for Coryell county. There after, his wife Susan, about 8 years younger than William, was listed 2 times. William and Susan had 7 children. Alice b. 1851, George b. 1856, Susan b. 1858, Isabel b. 1859, William R. b. 1866, and Lewis b. 1867. These dates are approximate according to the data taken from the census records. They were listed in the Gatesville area, 2nd Precinct, per 1870 census, and Gatesville, 23rd Precinct, per 1880 census. William was a farmer and I am wondering if he might possibly have been buried on his property. Does any one on this list know of any private or early pioneer cemeteries in the Gatesville area? I recently had some microfilm interlibrary loaned here to my library and checked for marriages for his daughters but they were not listed. Since I live in Oregon, doing actual on site research is not an option. My friend, Dan, already contacted the Coryell County Genealogical society. They were not much help. I know that William was in the Civil War and was injured, lost left hand, but he is not listed in the pension records. Where would I find out if the land he owned was a result of being given by the government for duty in the war? Any suggestions and help would be most appreciated. Willing to pay for copies and postage if any one has other avenues for me to pursue. Thank you in advance for your help. Most Sincerely, Aldean Tendick 49640 High Prairie Loop Oakridge, OR 97463 [email protected]
