Hello, Can anyone tell me about Sivells Bend in Cooke County? I can't find it in the 1895 TX maps. I would also like to know if there are some local records on the Rose and Thornton families who lived in Sivells Bend, particularly cemeteries and marriages. The Green G. Thornton family moved to Sivells Bend in the 1880's. Two of the Thornton daughters married into the Rose family. My great grandmother (Ella Thornton Thompson, b. 1877) spoke of Indian burial mounds on the old Sivells Bend ranch. Green G. Thornton apparently died 4 Aug 1894 and may be buried near the old ranch. I have yet to check for probate. I found James Rose - Mary Francis Thornton marriage of 1882 in the posted records. Need to find Jeff Rose - Euphemia Thornton marriage of 1889; and Ella Thornton - John William Thompson of 1895. After 1895, the Rose and Thornton families moved into the I.T.. Jim Rose ranched near Marietta; Jeff Rose moved north of Sulphur; The Thompsons lived near Ada. They may have retained their Cooke County land. Not sure. Any ideas on how to research the Sivells Bend area would be most appreciated!
