    1. TexasSites, Adv in Gen and a Request
    2. Hi My name is Bill Hocutt, I am a Genealogy Host on AOL for the Alabama Chat room and I have built a TexasSites Web Page. My Page contains links to Genealogy pages that are Texas Specific in most cases. If you have a home page for Texas Research or you know of a good Texas Page please send me a link so I can add it to the page. My only interest is in helping other Texas Researchers. The site is still in the Formation stage so any links Yall could contribute would be greatly appreciated. The Link for the Page is<A HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/tx2/UncleHiram/texassites.html"> TexasSites</A> The URL is http://www.angelfire.com/tx2/UncleHiram/texassites.html The surnames I am researching are HOCUTT, HOWCOTT, TRAYWICK, LUNSFORD, MOORE and DODSON. I would also like to invite Yall to visit my other sites 1) <A HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/tx2/UncleHiram/UncleHiram.html">Adventures in Genealogy</A> a weekly column about Genealogy with a Humorous outlook. This site has one a few awards and the column has appeared in the Dallas Genealogical Society newsletter and is a regular on the Golden Gates Genealogical Newsletter. 2. Dorothy Ann Folmar
    3. Greetings to all, If you had ancestors who ever lived in Pike Co., AL, we hope you will submit information about them to the Pike Co. Heritage book project. There is no cost to submit information about your ancestors for inclusion in this book. This is the biggest genealogy project Pike Co., AL has ever undertaken, under Heritage Publishing Company, & we know that many, many families from Pike County moved to Texas last century. Some left signs in their yards saying "GTT" & all their neighbors knew they had "Gone to Texas." For further information about this project, please e-mail me at orion@p-c-net.net. If you had ancestors in Pike Co., AL, please let them be included in this book! If you have infor- mation but don't want to write it yourself, please let us know & someone can do the writing for you. Thank you very much. -- Dorothy Ann Folmar Pike Co., AL

    1. re: Great Hanings , info to add
    2. Hi all , I thought i'd add this info for the record to help prove that James Leander Lock of Lamar County Texas who was reportedly Hung in Gainsville in 1862 was falsely reported and continues to be reported wrong . The Census Records prove that Leander Lock(e) was alive and well as late as 1880 . I doubt that i'll ever prove who was Hung in his place , but I can prove who it wasn't and James Leander Lock b. Tn of Lamar County Texas was not the man who was Hung thats a fact :) Leander Lock had been living in Crawford County Arkansas ( Source : Land Deeds ) pryor to moving to Texas in the 1850's . LAMAR COUNTY TX CENSUS 1860 Paris Twp Page 160 , 187-212 L. Lock , age ? , White Male , b. Tn ( James Leander Lock ) ___? Lock , age ? , White Female , b. Mo ? M. A. Leander Lock , age 53 , White Male , b. Tn Sarah Lock , age 58 , White Female , b. Mo F.P Lock , age 12 , b. Tx LAMAR COUNTY TX 1880 Page 156 , 330-340 Leander Lock , age 68 ,Widow , White Male , b. Tn , Father b. Va , Mother b. Ky . Leander is a Boarder in the house hold of : J.M. Walker , age 28 , White Male In one refernce , it says J. W. P. "Jacob" Lock . From my research , James Leander Lock had never used the name Jacob even as a Nick Name . The descendants of James Leander Lock of Lamar County Tx say he went by the name of Leander and nothing else . Todate , no one knows why the intials J.W.P Lock were used or what they stood for . As I have stated in the past , there are only 4 Lock(e) refernces listed in Cooke County Texas in that time period . (1)Hanging of James Leander Lock of Lamar County Texas 1862 (2)Marriage Record for George S. Lock in 1864 (3)Marriage Record for Edmonia Lock in 1864 (4)City Councilmen of Gainsville , Dr. W. Herbert Locke abt 1874 If there were any other Lock(e)'s in Cooke County Tx between 1860-1874 I sure haven't found them in the records . George S. Lock & Edmonia Lock were brother and sister , that I can prove . Seems to me that this Lock(e) who was hung has to be related to either George S. Lock and his Sister , Edmonia and or related to this W. Herbert Locke . Doubtful this mystery Lock(e) will ever be solved if infact he was a Lock(e) . My guess is who ever was hung , he had used a False Name to protect his Family . And it is a good guess that the man who was Hung had known James Leander Lock. Just thought i'd toss out this info for future refernce :) Donald Locke http://members.aol.com/LOCKEroots/index.html

    1. ELLIS/ORR>TX>OK
    2. I am looking for information on a Martha Isabel ELLIS, who would have married an Orr, circa 1890. Not sure what his first name was. I have been told that it may have been William or Isaac James. Martha’s name may have been HODGES, at the time that she married ORR. Martha, b 1875, was raised in Miller Grove, Hopkins Co., Texas. She was listed with her father, Samuel Newton ELLIS, in Miller Grove, TX, on the 1880 Census. When I find her on the 1900 Census in Mill Creek, I.T., she is listed as Martha ORR and as a widow living with her father. Martha and ORR had three daughters, my husbands grandmother, Dessie Olena, b 1892, Ova Antheline, b 1896, and Eva Marie, 1898. Martha was also known to go by the name Mattie Belle. In later years, Martha married a J.L. Ray in Cooke Co. Possibly, she married Orr there early, and someone has some record of it. I am looking for any record that would tie Martha to any ORR. I am at a stand still on this line until I find the elusive ORR. Would appreciate any help anyone can give. I have quite a bit of information on the ELLIS side to share. Not knowing where they were married at, I am sending this post to all of the lists that I belong to in Texas and Oklahoma in the hopes that someone might have some information that will help. Please forgive me if you receive it more than once. Pat Tucson2som@aol.com
