I am searching for my above ancestor. I have traced her to Muenster, Cooke co., Tx in 1913 where she was administrator of her husband Joseph MOSTER will. Joseph was buried in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Muenster but there is no listing I can find for Theresia. Their son Leo MOSTER is also buried there. I sincerely appreciate anyone who has suggestion to respond. Thank you for your time and effort. Mary

Hello; I am looking for relations of Leo Edward Miller. His parents were J.D. Miller and Mattie. We do not know his mother's maiden name. Leo had two brothers. One was Peck Miller and the other was Roy Miller. Leo was born Dec 28 1899 in Texas and died Dec 14 1937 in Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas. At the time of his death he was working for Tidal Oil Company as a Salesman. Leo had a son name Eric who was about 4 at the time of his death. Any information would be greatly appreciated, as this man is my Ggrandfather, and I never got to meet him. Thanks. Pati Stone
I'm a new subscriber to this list as just recently found a family on the 1880 census. I've traced this family from Oregon Co., Missouri. My direct ancestor, Caleb Jobe, who was raised by this (should be Elijah Jobe, age 55) was over in Collin Co., Texas in 1880. These families had come from Oregon County, Missouri about 1875-1876. When this 'large' migration came from MO at this time, some of my group stayed in Collin Co., TX and some ventured on to Brown Co., Texas. It was here that Mary M. (Parrack) Jobe -wife of Elijah Jobe died in August 1876. One daughter remained there while this group returned near the others who had migrated from Missouri - some of which were in Collin County in 1880. Now when this census was checked on the actual film, it was found to have Elisha Job, age 55, with his name marked off and BH written to the side of the name. Does anyone know what this means? On closer examination, there seems to have been several on the 1880 Cooke Co., TX census that also had his 'drawn line' and BH written to the side. We thought of the enumerator's initials - but not even close. Was there an epidemic in 1879-1880? Does anyone have the 1880 Mortality schedule for Cooke Co., TX that they could look up this Elisha Job or Elijah Jobe. Thanks for any help. -------------------- William Holt married Hester Ann Jobe (d/o Elijah Jobe) Jan 8, 1871 Oregon Co., MO. Hello, Can anyone tell me about Sivells Bend in Cooke County? I can't find it in the 1895 TX maps. I would also like to know if there are some local records on the Rose and Thornton families who lived in Sivells Bend, particularly cemeteries and marriages. The Green G. Thornton family moved to Sivells Bend in the 1880's. Two of the Thornton daughters married into the Rose family. My great grandmother (Ella Thornton Thompson, b. 1877) spoke of Indian burial mounds on the old Sivells Bend ranch. Green G. Thornton apparently died 4 Aug 1894 and may be buried near the old ranch. I have yet to check for probate. I found James Rose - Mary Francis Thornton marriage of 1882 in the posted records. Need to find Jeff Rose - Euphemia Thornton marriage of 1889; and Ella Thornton - John William Thompson of 1895. After 1895, the Rose and Thornton families moved into the I.T.. Jim Rose ranched near Marietta; Jeff Rose moved north of Sulphur; The Thompsons lived near Ada. They may have retained their Cooke County land. Not sure. Any ideas on how to research the Sivells Bend area would be most appreciated! Strong wrote his reminisences in his late years, and parts of these are quoted in the book "The First 100 Years In Cooke County" by A. Morton Smith (The Naylor Co: San Antonio, TX, 1955). " (He) came to Cooke County with his family when he was 12 years of age, arriving by ox-wagon from Champaign County, Illinois in June 1846. At that time, he recalled the settlers were 'a man named Poplar who lived at Poplar Springs, Mr. Buchanan at Big Springs, Mr. Stamps near Nelson Grove, and Mr. Grimes at Grimes' Prarie, all of whom left the same year'....Frank Carpenter settled on Grimes' Prarie...Mr. Underwood and one son were killed by Indians at teh head of Beaver Creek in Grayson County, and that Mr. Carpenter and Henry Wilson helped young Strong make his first crop in the spring of 1847 after his father's death in October, 1846. Strong further noted that en route to Texas 'we fell in with the Dickson, Chadwell, Chambers ans William families, all going to join the Peters' colony just as we were.' In THE HISTORY OF GRAYSON COUNTY, Mrs. W.H. Lucas and Mrs. H.E. Hall report that in the extreme western part of Grayson County, along Cross Timbers, six families from Missouri arrived the evening of November 24, 1845. Among them M.L Webster, Charles Wheelock, Myron Mudgit, widow Underwood, Frank Carpenter, Dr. Leaky, widow Middleton. They were later identified as among the earliest Cooke County citizens. [Note: per census records, W. R. Strong's wife E. was born in Missouri] Strong relays details of the first social even of consequence, held at Fitzhugh's Fort 'and they danced the night through-July 4, 1847-commerating the 71st anniversary of the Declaration of Independence'. W. R. remembers visitors from Grayson, Collin and Denton counties attending. He remembers a similar festive event held in Grayson County on July 5, 1852. Strong (and presumably his siblings) attended the school taught by Miss Jane Shannon of Grayson County. In 1847, she began teaching in the home of Mrs. Underwood (11 miles southeast of Gainesville). Strong also writes of circuit rider Isaac Walker of Grayson County. According to the 1860 and 1870 census, he lived in Gainesville, Texas. Both W.R. and his younger brother, Cyrus, were listed on the Muster Roll of Company D, Mounted Regiment, Texas State Volunteers, Col J.E.
