I guess that makes us distant cousins or something. This is so interesting, and my hope is to be able to hear or read stories about their lives in order to know them all better. One tidbit of knowledge given to me was about an ancestor of mine nicknamed, "Mule" Meyer. Supposedly, he was a great uncle of my grandfather, Emil John Meyer. "Mule" would travel from the Frelsburg area to Galveston to pick up immigrants from Germany and take them to various settlements in Texas. Legend has it that he picked up Aunt Bertha's family. Frederika, my grandmother, and Aunt Bertha's mother was only nine years old when they were brought to Frelsburg. I believe this may have occured somewhere between 1839-1845. I do not have proof of this, but it may help someone else who may pick up this info and run with it.
