    3. The Colorado County cemetery records are now available online on the Columbus, Texas, web site. www.columbustexas.net (click on Nesbitt Library) or go directly to the library site http://www.columbustexas.net/library/cemetery.html The records have been at the library in print form for several years. Bill Stein, library director and archivist, and many volunteers searched every known cemetery and burial site in the county. Mr. Stein then used other records in order to locate information about the individuals. Some records include the name of the spouse, the names of the parents with maiden name of mother, military service, etc. The records are divided into four groups alphabetically: A-F, G-K, L-R, S-Z. There is a search capability. Suggestions: Be sure that all records are loaded before beginning the search. You may or may not pick up those loaded after you begin. Try alternate spellings. (I looked for the name Burtschell with one t; none were listed although many Burtschells are buried in Colorado County. I then scrolled until I found the name, spelled with two t's.) The search picks up the name regardless of where it appears (such as maiden names of spouses or mothers). Therefore, unless you are looking for only one person, you may want to check all four groups for other possible family members. Check the library site periodically to see what else has been added from the collection. Visit the library when you are in Columbus. It has a very good genealogy and Texana collection.
