They were married in Frelsburg, Colorado county on 25 Dec 1873 and are found there on the 1880 census. Mary Jane usually went by the name Jane. Some time between 1880 and 1901, they moved to Lagrange, Fayette, Texas where their youngest child, Van Lawrence Johnson, was born. By 1920, they were in Fort Worth, Tarrant, Texas where Van married Maudrie Kinney on 7 July, 1920. Jessie's father was an Irish slave owner and his mother was a slave. He is known to have one brother whose name is unknown. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
