My GGGgrandparents, Johann and Maria Find Meyer, came from Germany to the Bernardo area in the early 1800's. Their oldest son, my GGgrandfather J. Daniel Meyer, was born in Bernardo in 1847. Perhaps your August and my Johann were brothers who came from Germany together.

I was actually researching my mother's maternal side (Meyer and Diedrich) when I ran across your posting which mentions a Pauline Eckardt. One of my mother's great uncles, Daniel Meyer, Jr., married a Pauline Eckert from the Bernardo area. I was wondering if you think this could be the same woman. Different spelling, but that is common. Daniel Jr. and Pauline Eckert had two children, Kermit and Daniella. John
