    1. What's new!
    2. Dorothy W. Albrecht
    3. With the help of John Konesheck we now have extracted all of the listings for Coloado County cemeteries except for Columbus Odd Fellows Rest (John is still working on that one) from the list of burial at Nesbitt Memorial Library. Those buried in unknown cemeteries will be uploaded shortly. With the help of Martha Prince, Ernest Mae Seaholm, Dorothy Cox, David Hahn, Deborah Smith, Dale Halyard, Charles Sherman, Sally Weeks, Dianna Foster and probably someone I have missed, we now have over 350 obituraries online along with pictures for many of them. I have a big stack on my desk and a notebook full of obits to be typed. Some errors have been found as we have gone through the list. We welcome corrections, additions, obituaries and pictures. And especially need your help when the names of those in unknown burial sites are listed. The Colorado County TXGenWeb Project was again one of the five finalist for County of the Month award in July. Keep up the good work and we'll make the top. But more importantly we will have a site full of great material for those searching Colorado County for their ancestors. Thanks for your help and words of kindness, Dorothy Albrecht County Coordinator Colorado County TXGenWeb Project

    1. Excited!!
    2. Dorothy W. Albrecht
    3. You can tell that I was excited and in a hurry to get word out about the 1930 Census being on-line. When I got the message back, I found two errors in the first paragraph. (And I thought I had proofread it.) Any way, I hope you got the idea that you can now access the 1930 census on-line thanks to Nesbitt Memorial Library. Looking forward to receiving some obits to link to the cemetery records that are going on-line, Dorothy Albrecht albrecht@fais.net County Coordinator, Colorado County TXGenWeb Project

    1. 1930 Census for Colorado County On-Line
    2. Dorothy W. Albrecht
    3. Thanks to Nesbitt Memorial Library the 1930 Census for Colorado County is now on line. It may be access either from the Colorado County TXGenWeb home page http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/TX/colorado.html or from either of the two following urls: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/colorado/census/1930/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/colorado/census/1930/0000read.htm Work is progressing nicely on extracting the burials from the Nesbitt web site and putting them on our site by cemetery. If you want an alpha listing of all known persons buried in Colorado County, the place to go is http://www.columbustexas.net/library/cemetery.html If you are interested in seeing the names of those buried in a specific cemetery, go to the Colorado County TXGenWeb home page and click on Cemeteries. All but seven of the cemeteries have been completed. By the end of the weekend, I hope to have all but three and the unknowns on-line. Thanks to John Konesheck this project has progressed nicely. The following notice should appear on every page. We need your help. If you have any corrections, additions or obituaries pertaining to these cemeteries, please contact the county coordinator, Dorothy Albrecht. I have had a good time working on this project and hope that it will prove fruitful to you. Thanks for your support, Dorothy Albrecht County Coordinator, Colorado County TXGenWeb Project

I have recently found that he may have died later than orginally suspected, sometime between 1898 and 1915. Family info is that he was murdered because he had been hired to remove squatters from properties around Colorado Co., and that he and his family lived around Eagle Lake. He was there with his nephew James Nelson McDonald and James wife Harriet Irwin and Harriet's sister Mary and her husband T. N. McKie. Both of those families had a child while living in Eagle Lake. Bill's wife Anne's sister Cynthia was married to a Lenhart from the same area.
