Thanks to David Hahn and to Bill Stein at the Nesbitt Library there is a searchable index to the 1930 Colorado County Census now online. You will find it at http://www.columbustexas.net/library/history/1930%20census.htm This will compliment the image format on line at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/colorado/census/1930/ We now have approximately 700 obits online and with the help of volunleers the number will increase. Thanks for your past support. Your ideas, data and help is always welcomed and appreciated. Dorothy Albrecht County Coordinator, Colorado County TxGenWeb

She was a midwife in 1833 to my 3x grandmother in Lavaca Co, but Eliza lived in Colo Co. She was either the dau/o John H Dabney or related somehow. He had a League of land in the Austin Colony days. I found several Dabney's in Colo Co listings, several of whom married into the Dancy family. Several Dabney and Dancy's are buried in the Williams Cem. Any leads would be helpful, thank you.
My grandfather Charles Renz was a semi-professional photographer in Colorado & Austin County from about 1907 to 1919. I have scanned and put 100 photos on an online album. The first few photos are some professional studio photos that I also had. After that, the majority are photos taken by my grandfather. There are some photos also taken by other people. I would love for people to see them because maybe more names/dates could be put to the photos. Some of the surnames that have been identified include: Renz, Caletka, Stuessel, Glueck, Schiller, Feller, Batla, and Stasny and many more. I still have lot that are unidentified. The pictures were mainly taken around Bernardo Prairie, Cat Spring and Eagle Lake area. If anyone can identify a photo, please email me at nmclain@ev1.net and if you know anything about the photo and how that person knew my grandfather, I would love to hear about it. David Hahn <DHAHN81147@aol.com> writes: "I am in the process of finishing the indexing of the 1930 census for Colorado county. I am working on the last ED. If anyone needs a lookup while I am finishing up they can contact me and I will respond to them." Thank you, David, not only for this offer but for indexing this census. When the indexing has been completed, it will be available on the Nesbitt Memorial Library Website http://www.columbustexas.net/library/ There will also be a link to it from the Colorado County TXGenWeb site. I still don't know who's funeral it is, but I have a clue that I am persuing. I, too, have had suspicions that the various Meyer families in the Colorado/Fayette county area are related. There are entries in the Trinity and Zoar Lutheran Church baptismal records (online at Nesbitt Memorial Library's site, also Fayette County USGenweb) where there are Meyers who are the sponsors to my family's baptisms, and I don't have the sponsor's name in my database. I along with several other Meyer researchers have compiled quite an extensive database, so it would be quite a coup to be able to link the various other Meyer families together. I am descended from Johann and Maria Find Meyer through their son, J. Daniel. Maria Find Meyer's parents are buried in the Meyer cemetery. The tall tombstone in the foreground of the photo is theirs. My theory about the fami! ly linkage is that Johann Meyer had at least one brother, maybe more, and that is our link. I think we need to make contact. Can't hurt! John

After looking up cemeteries in Colorado County, Texas, I found a list of all of the cemeteries and names of the deceased in some of the cemeteries. My grandfather Emil John Meyer is buried in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery in Frelsbug, Texas. I do not know whether or not we are related, but it would be nice to discover another branch in the family tree. My grandfather did play a coronet in a small band that played in and around the area of Frelsburg. If you know any stories of anyone like that in your family, it may be a small clue in the right direction. I'm sorry I could not answer any of your questions. Good luck in your quest. It is very interesting to be sure. Sincerely, Barbara Clayton

I have researched the Pfeffers in Austin Co. who lived in the Kenney area for sometime, and even researched the Pfeffers in Germany before they came over and I am puzzled about Sophia Pfeffer. I didn't even know she existed until someone gave me the records about her. Now what I do know, is that my immigrant Johann Andreas Christian Pfeffer had 2 sisters and 1 brother who all died before he married. Johann had 7 children when they left Germany and one was born in Austin Co. None of them are named Sophia. Besides Johann married in 1833. Johann's father married in 1807, but I don't know anything about a Sophia Pfeffer. Please clear up for me just who she is, where she came from and who her parents are. We may have a connection, but as of this writing I don't know where or when. I tried sending this message to your email address and it came back that the postmaster could not deliver. My Great Grandfather was August Brandes (1848-1929) lived in the Content-Weimar area. I understand he had twin brothers. One F.E. (Ernst) who lived in the area, but I have not been able to find any information on the other twin. Does anyone know anything about this family? Arlene Zimbelman

NC abt. 1806 migrated to Colorado County about 1845. His first wife Rebecca Ellender Shook died leaving him with a few youngsters. Prior to 1849 he married Lucy Coffee. Of this union three children were born: my g-grandfather Daniel MORGAN, and his two sisters, Nina Elizabeth MORGAN, and Mary Scott MORGAN. What I'm really interested in though is Daniel's sisters Nina Elizabeth and Mary S. MORGAN..and their husbands. It is known that Elizabeth MORGAN married a James Graham SAMS abt. 1871 They had at least two daughters, Lizzie and Eva, both born before December 1887. Lizzie was 8 when her mother died. She married Reeves NOYES. Nothing is known about Mary S. MORGAN. If you can further enlighten the situation I would appreciate anything you can pass on. Mike
