I have since done much more research and found that this person is indeed my Katherine Shoemaker. For some reason, the information on her place of birth and her mother's maiden name are incorrect on both her death certificate and obit. Do not know why this is, but the facts were recorded incorrectly. Katherine "Katie Kyle" Shoemaker was born 13 October 1879 in Russell Co., VA to Philip Shoemaker and Susan Elizabeth Kinsey Shoemaker. I have found her birth record in that county.
