Margaret "Peggy" LONGMIRE's father was William H LONGMIRE, who died 20 Feb 1815, apparently as a result of his service as a Corporal in the War of 1812, since Hannah (maiden name unknown) was awarded a "5 year half pay pension". He was apparently fron NC, but have been unable to connect him to the other LONGMIRE families in TN. Ruth Elizabeth GIBSON's father was James GIBSON who seems to have had children from a previous marriage. Unable to find any more detail on him, but he apparently died before 1830. In 1818, he was appointed as guardian of Hannah's LONGMIRE children to receive the pension in their behalf, so assume that is about when they married. Unable to find any property records on either party, but William and Hanna were among the founders of the New Hope Baptist Church of Fairfield, Bedford co, in 1809, however they were no longer on the rolls in Nov 1811. I believe they were also involved in ! the founding of Caney Creek Baptist Church in Lincoln county. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
