    3. Howdy! Thanks for helping me to remember old times in Blue Ridge. Mrs. Calhoun was, as I remember her & from a kid's perspective, a rather prim lady. I remember her selling cosmetics, Avon ???. Anyway, she was always nicely dressed & powdered & fluffed when I saw her out in town. She had a nice smile & was friendly toward me. (Those were days when most people were friendly toward kids, & kids could be open & trusting towards almost everybody. Of course, small town Blue Ridge was a rather "safe environment" for everybody. Everyone in town knew my parents &, should I get into trouble, I was immediately corrected & my parents were quickly informed of the matter!!!) I also remember that she attended the Baptist Church in Blue Ridge. I think that would have been about the same time that the Baptist minister was a Bro. ??? Driggers. He may be your relative??? He was a friendly guy & could really preach a great sermon. Sorry, I do not remember his wife's name; however, she was! a very sweet lady. I think that I was in her Sunday School class or maybe Vacation Bible School class. Nevertheless, always a smile on her face! Oops, I have strayed away from Mrs. Calhoun. Was her husband, Oscar? There was another Calhoun family who lived immediately across the street from our house (located just North of the water tower)--their house was on the same block as the water tower & to the southwest. I think that these Calhouns were Frank & Vera. Didn't Rosa & Oscar have a son? Maybe more children, but a son is all that my memory gives up! Well, good that you have prompted me to remember. My genealogy group keeps encouraging us all to write down our memories & remembrances. However, I seem to keep putting it off. Your prompt seems to have helped "jog" my mind. Maybe, I had better get on with the writing task---while I can remember. Good luck with your research. My line is Durham---they are scattered back in Alabama & S. Carolina. Have had some recent assistance from folks who saw my query on the internet. Thank goodness for the computer & the internet! Oh, by the way, my father who lived in Blue Ridge all his life was Clarence George. If there is anything else that I might be able to help you with, please send a message. Take care, Ray George rgeo@tca.net
