The Alexanders came to Collin County in the 1840s and could easily be related to the McKinneys since they did not live too far away. Do not know of a Gibbins, but there could be one. I know of other people related to George Washington Smith of Blue Ridge. One man is trying to prove that Smith was actually at the battle of San Jacinto. There was a G. W. Smith at the battle, but there was apparently two G. W.Smiths. No proof that it was the one from Collin. When the historical marker was obtained for Smith in Collin Co., the state refused the statement that he fought at San Jacinto. There is another book entitled The Family McKinney. Have you seen it? Collin came to Texas from Ky or TN. He settled in the area around Texarkana around 1832 before moving west to Red River Co. and eventually to Collin. Mt. Ida is pretty far and the date is off. Could be a relative. If you've seen the book the Descendents of Collin and Daniel McKinney, you are aware of the long list of Williams and Willies. There is also a handful of Alexanders and Smiths.
