If you google Texas general land office, it will take you to the web site where they have a database of the land grants issued in the state, including date, file number, etc. BUT... read their intro pages, concerning accessing what is in the file itself. There is no way of telling (online) what the contents are, especially any documents they may have filed as part of the application process. Getting a land grant depended on a number of things, one of them obviously being how long they lived there (settled on the land). I've heard LOTS of goodies can show up in the files.
