It was the least I could to repay. In the year I've spent searching Bennetts, McCoys, and Yarbroughs in Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Texas, the Collin County site has not added new on-line data. Tennessee has marriages from 1800-1927 on-line - cemetery records are there, indexed and detailed - Union Parish, LA has week by week minutes of one of its early churches on-line - all work to get census on-line. A book is being planned on early settlers of Collin County including photos and bios. Before we contribute copies of old photographs and written biographies to another 'for sale' Collin County genealogy book - perhaps we need to make the effort to put the information on-line. It is my understanding that genweb/rootsweb serves us. But it only can if we make our requests and complaints known. The information is out there - it needs someone interested in seeing it get on the web to collect and assign it. I know there must be others as frustrated as I. This takes manpower. Many of us with interests in Collin County would be more than happy to get this information transcribed, and I herewith offer my services as transcriber. Jan >>
