Concerning whether or not we need to cite the Collin Co. cemetery books everytime someone quotes from those books, I would like to request that a legally accurate statement concerning this matter be published on the list. The only original material I'm aware of in those books are directions to the various cemeteries and little things like that. The tombstone inscriptions themselves can't be considered the original creative product of the author of the book, can they? If so, then I should be receiving royalties everytime one of those books sells, because I have several relatives buried in Collin County and it's their tombstone inscriptions published in those books. We need legal clarification of this matter, because I think it has the potential to put a damper on the willingness of people to be helpful to others on this list. And that is the primary purpose of the list isn't it: to be helpful to one another, not to sell books? I am very appreciative that the Collin Co. cemetery books exist. They have helped me tremendously in my research. However, I also think it's time for them to be updated. An awful lot of people have been buried in Collin Co. since those books were published many years ago. S.M.Hitt
