Refer to public records in both Denton and Collin Counties, TX. Benjamin & Roxanne's farm was on the Denton/Collin County lines so land records are in Denton, Probate in Collin. Benjamin, and the BACCUS family, later moved just east to Collin County, where he an Roxanne died in Lebanon, Collin County, in 1905 Oliver Ivy was John and Julia BACCUS' youngest child, being born in SEP 1892. His Mother Julia died 13 months later, in OCT 1893, when Oliver was 13 mos old. Oliver's father, the widower John BACCUS, was sent to the state hospital in Terrel in 1893-5 for depression (melancholia). He was sent back by his Father Benjamin for a second time in 1897-98, from which he never emerged. He ended his life by his own hand there. It is not surprising that Oliver's son listed someone other than Julia on his father's death certificate. Neither man had ever laid eyes on Julia beyond Oliver's first year of life in 1893. Oliver was the yiungest child of 6, and the family had been in disarray since Julia's death in 1893. The name on the death cert of 1947 is probably the woman who raised Oliver, and known in the family, and community as his "mother", though she was not his biological mother. Oliver's BACCUS grand-parents were both in their 70s when he was born, and they were both in their 80s and gone by 1905, the time Oliver reached 13yrs. It is probable that someone other that the BACCUS grandparents reared him as a child. Benjamin and Roxanne have stones in the BACCUS Cemetery, as well as Julia HOLLIDAY (Mother). When I visited BACCUS Cemetery in the late 1970s there was an unmarked Bois d'arc stake atop the grave next to Julia's, but no stone marker, and I have always speculated that the stake w! as to mark the resting place of her husband John. That being said, John BACCUS and Julia HOLLIDAY were clearly the parents of William Benjamin (1882), Minnie Ethel (1885), Verda Frances (1887), Grover Clifford (1889), Robert Lee (1890), and Oliver Ivy BACCUS (1892) I am still unable to positively identify Benjamin's wife Roxanne's lineage, and continue to seek help in proving that her surname was STOVALL, and that her family at least resided in Indiana.
