I am researching the following families in Collin County BIRD/BYRD, SCROGGIN, MYERS We found our ancestors, Margaret (Scroggin) b.c1855 and Albert BIRD b. c1851first in TN where they had one child. Then in 1878 they moved to Collin County Texas. 1880 Census of Collin County lists the BIRD family: Albert A. Bird age 29 b. TN Margret Bird age 25 b. TN Lewis (Louis Edgar) age 4 b. TN great grandfather Oscar (Roscoe) age 2 TX Flora age 11 mos. TX (married Willis Hawkins) SCROGGIN, Kalip (Caleb) age 23 bri-in-law b. TN The rest of Albert and Maggie's children: Stella (married Rex Carr) Emma Belle (married 1st Eli Perry 2nd Frederick W. Stowers) Waldo Bird Albert and Maggie with all children except Louis were said to have moved around 1900 to Oklahoma Indian Territory just North of the Red River probably around Durant since Emma Belle married one of her husbands there. 1900 Census of Collin County lists: BIRD, Louis b. Jun 1877 TN Adele (Delia Catherine MYERS) b. Oct 1877 TX (born in Collin county--looking for her family also) Lester b. Aug 1896 TX Edgar b. Aug 1897 TX (middle name Louis, married 1st to unknown wife, 2 girls) my grandfather George (aka Pete?) b. Mar 1900 TX The rest of their children were: Hattie L. married 1st Ponder 2nd husband Huff Edna Maggie Gene Louis BIRD changed his name sometime afterward to BYRD. His is the only line that still spells it that way (from the letter). 1900 Collin Co census lists possible brother to Margaret: Anderson (Ance?) SCROGGINS b. 1856? TN wife Catherine b. 1855? TN (handwriting difficult to make out) children: Mary b. July 1878 b. TN John H. b. July 1881 b. TN Maggie J. b. Oct 1885? TX Walter b. Sep 1889 TX Ellie? b. 1892 Cora? b. 1895 Floyd b. 1898 TX If anyone knows more about the Myers or Scroggin families or can flesh out the information we have on the Birds such as where their farm was or more on the family names I'd appreciate it.
