The Wombles settled in the area of Collin County known as Verona - southwest of Blue Ridge. The community was named Womble for a while. The school was also named Womble. The name was changed to Verona when they appliced for a post office. Verona was supposedly a daughter of A. Womble. The area was also known as Mississippi because so many of the residents were from that state.
