Hello Alyce, The Genealogy Friends of Plano Libraries, Inc., will do an index search for a nominal donation fee of about $5. They use this money to buy more microfilm for the library. They are 501 c 3 tax exempt. They will be happy to do a search of any available indexes, but do not take the responsibility of compiled genealogies. The Harrington Library in Plano has the birth and death index on microfilm for Texas in their collection. They also have the delayed birth index, all on microfilm. After you have the certificate number and date, you can send a $9 check for a death record to Texas Bureau of Vital Statistics, Texas Department of Health, 1100 West 49th Street, Austin, TX 78756. Birth records are $11. To verify fees or other info at the Dept. of Health, call 512-458-7380. If you are interested in Friends doing any research for you, contact Genealogy Friends of Plano Libraries, Inc., Research Committee, PO Box 860477, Plano, TX 75086-0477. Good luck. Brenda Kellow, CG, CGI President, Genealogy Friends PS: I don't do research at this time. Roots at Virtual Texan
