The Gladys Harrington Library in Plano, Collin County, Texas, has the birth and death index on microfilm in their library. Lookups are conducted on a regular basis by Genealogy Friends for a very small donation. The money goes to purchase more microfilm for the genealogical collection. Anyone interested in this service offered by Genealogy Friends of Plano Libraries, Inc., please contact them at their email address at GenFriends@aol.com. You may also visit their exceptional web page at www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/4167. The URL contains many historical and genealogical items of interest to genealogical researchers. > About a year ago, I found the names of two ladies in Euless, TX who offered copies of a statewide death index for all people with a single surname in years 1903-1940. The prices are very reasonable $5, or for more common surnames $7 (up to 15 pages). For very common surnames the cost goes up a little. I believe after 1940 indices are also available, but the cost is considerably more. Their add appeared in Everton's last winter and is no longer there-- BUT, here is their address if anyone would like to write and request and index: > Research Services by Brenda & Becky > 707 Jonathan Dr > Euless, TX 76040 > > I was very pleased with their service. The index included name, date of death, county in which death occurred. > > Marna > (This is not meant to be a solicitation. It saved me time when compared to requesting individual dates from libraries or court houses.) >>
