Just for your information : The Plano Library has these microfilm reels and copies are .25 a page. I would think any Texas Library with a good genealogical section would have the same. However, they do not do lookups in Plano. In my research I found that all names are not on it. I found several dozen in the Collin county courthouse that were not listed at the state level and vice versa. I am not being critical of this service as I realize that many researchers don't have access to a Texas library. I wonder though if the Archives in Austin have posted this same information? ----- Original Message ----- From: sparrow <sparrow@xta.com> To: <TXCOLL-N-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 27, 1999 08:40 PM Subject: [TXCOLL-N] Death Index > Hi everyone: > > About a year ago, I found the names of two ladies in Euless, TX who offered copies of a statewide death index for all people with a single surname in years 1903-1940. The prices are very reasonable $5, or for more common surnames $7 (up to 15 pages). For very common surnames the cost goes up a little. I believe after 1940 indices are also available, but the cost is considerably more. Their add appeared in Everton's last winter and is no longer there-- BUT, here is their address if anyone would like to write and request and index: > Research Services by Brenda & Becky > 707 Jonathan Dr > Euless, TX 76040 > > I was very pleased with their service. The index included name, date of death, county in which death occurred. > > Marna > (This is not meant to be a solicitation. It saved me time when compared to requesting individual dates from libraries or court houses.) >
