Author: bighootchie Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.collin/4769.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello,one of my 3rd cousins was Maria Howe'granddaughters,and she sat down and talked to her,and got the information on the ship.They come in through Galveston.And to beat it all,the records passenger,and ship manifests were destroyed.I can't remember if it was during the 1900 hurricane that did it.But you cannot go anywhere and find anything for the year of 1873.I hate it!!Heck I forgot to ask where in the line are you from?I am from the Ashby-Taylor.John Ashby came over the same year,but in May.I have no idea what ship he came on.He was married,her name was Harriett?,don't know anything about her.They say she was a tiny woman.She contracted tuberculosis,on the trip,and made it all the way to McKinney,and died..She was buried at Pecan Grove Cemetary,on Hwy 5.But she was buried up in the then black section on a hill.I guess the buried her with a wooden cross,as there is nothing up there now.That was between May and January 1874,cause in January he married Maria Howe,my gggre! atgrandmother.She died in 1930 of influenza.John died in 1919 during the flu outbreak.It was her sister who married George Rolfe.I don't have any access of Rolfe pictures.I bet the granddaughter Iola Heifner has some as the children of Lena Odle.Iola is almost blind and 92.I might try and call her,but I hate to bother her.Well,I hope this helps for now.Her is my email address. bighootchie@yahoo.com Carmella Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
